setting quantum values
Hi,
when we add a class we get an error "HTB Quantum too small,or too big"
i read in docum.org that we need to set the quantun value which should be >1500 and <60000.
but i need to add classes with diff type of rates.
eg : Min : 32 kbit and Max : 512 kbit.
now in this case how do i set my quantum value which satifies all types of rates.
Pls let me know,This is very urgent for

quantum message
Hey all,
When I run my scripts to manage my ungodly slow school connection, I get
messages about the quantum size being small and suggesting a r2q change.
What is this all about, and should I do anything? my link is effectively
45kBps and I have it set to limit to 42kBps.
Thanks,
Jay

quantum
Dear all,
I''m new to traffic shapping although i have gone through marking and HTB queueing but i felt trouble in tc filter . I wonder if any one give me the hints about quantum or r2q.
i guess quantum is used when two class has same prio and rate and want to give first priority between them and control the borrowing traffic. It should be set more than MTU too. But my

HTB - problem with one thread
Hello,
Besides a very good functionality, I have a small, yet stressing, problem.
Let''s say I have a bandwidth of N bits.
I have X clients, everyone with his fixed bandwidth.
I create htb qdsics for each client. Each leaf has sfq queueing
discipline.
A sample config would be like this :
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:2 classid 1:346 htb rate 32Kbit ceil 32Kbit
burst 4k

HTB theory?
Hello,
I have been searching for HTB theory documentation and found two interesting
sources - Devik''s page and docum.org FAQ. In some places they are
contradictory which make me think that Devik''s theoretic document (marked
"actual") is just too old and does not reflect the latest changes. After
reading http://www.docum.org/docum.org/faq/cache/30.html and others, I

htb & bandwidth sharing
Hi everybody!
I''ve been trying with htb and tc filter. It seemed to work fine, but
after testing with ethloop I''ve realized that traffic is not being
distributed through the leaves as I thought. When sending packets to
1:10 and 1:11 at the same time, there''s no bandwidth sharing. There''s no
traffic through 1:11 until traffic through 1:10 has finished. Though

Need help with HTB
Hello,
1.
I currently have a 128kbps cable link to the internet..and I''m sharing
this connection with others.
I''ve made the following script(for alocating bandwidth depending on the
services used: browsing, squid, games like counter-strike, icmp, ssh),
which unfortunately isn''t working very well as the response times I''m
getting upon pinging the server

basic htb setup
Hey all. I''m trying to set up QoS using the HTB qdisc in a very basic
setup, but it the example shown in the howto doesn''t seem to be working.
While the packets show up in the correct classes, they appear to be
completely ignoring the rates, meaning nothing gets shaped.
My setup is that I''ve got a a bunch of machines behind my firewall/router:

Sorry to write to you directly but my list membership is not working, I

Can you tell me what the difference between these two scripts is please.

hello,
i have a config that is with a large domain of rate, from 2kb to 40Mb
and i have some problems with i don''t know how to deal with.
so here are some classes 2 with q=1000, one with q 200000 and one with
q=6400, all have been calculated by htb, in the code i speficien just
rate, ceil, no quantum, no r2q, no bursts

QoS HTB burst and cburst parameters-FLEX
All:
Does anyone know what the burst and cburst parameter do?
My understanding so far:
* I see a lot of different definitions on the web. It
seems like burst is the number of bytes sent before serving other
queues/classes. So if burst was 1000 bytes and class rate was 100kibit
per second. It would send 1000 bytes each time the scheduler service
that queue to a rate of 100 kbit per

I am successful in throttling down the Bandwidth to 8kbit using HTB. Below that I get report to change r2q. I want to bring down the Leaf class Bandwidth to 3kbit.
My script is as below:

tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1:0 htb default 30 r2q 1

htb v3 question - quantum and r2q again
Hello!
One simple question regaring htb2->htb3 way.
I''m using 2.4.25 kernel with tc3 from Devik''s site, RH9.
My data flow is about 100Mbit duplex and is subject to grow, so
I''m creating root class with 200Mbit rate, with r2q=10,
quantum = rate/r2q, and 1500 < quantum < 200000 (sch_htb.c)
with such r2q my default shaping window will be from 120Kbit to 16Mbit,
