empty Model creates DangerousAttributeError and connection is defined by ActiveRecord
Dear list, The following situation drives me crazy. I have one model called AlumniMember and one AlumniData. Both filled with code. I developed both on Rails 1.2.3. Now I update the App to Rails 2.0.2. Now the following happens, always when I call AlumniData.new I get the DangerousAttributeError. First I cleaned out the Model, the only line I left is "has_one :alumni_member". Same

Scheduled tasks in Rails: Cron + wget = Best solution?
Hi there, do you agree that for having scheduled tasks in Rails, the leanest solution is the following? - Create a controller with an action for each task - Implement the logic of the task as controller code - Set up a cron job at the OS level that uses wget to invoke the URL of this controller/action at the appropriate time intervals Advantages: 1) full access to all your Rails objects just as

Hello, I''m going to be helping a friend setup Shorewall in place of his Cisco router on his home network. Shorewall will be acting as the router/firewall gateway for internet access for his home LAN. His connection to the ISP is via PPPOE. Nothing unfamiliar here to me. It will be a standard 2 interface setup. My curiosity was peaked when he said that he is going to be installing

Extrapolating values from a glm fit
Dear R-help, I have fitted a glm logistic function to dichotomous forced choices responses varying according to time interval between two stimulus. x values are time separation in miliseconds, and the y values are proportion responses for one of the stimulus. Now I am trying to extrapolate x values for the y value (proportion) at .25, .5, and .75. I have tried several predict parameters, and they

how to disable homedirs?
Hi, how can i disable the homedir? I have a Domain login configuration, but do not want server based profiles. After I add a workstation to the domain, the user profiles, created during the first login of a domain user, on that machine are always server based. Sure, I can change this profile to a local profile, but I think I can change this it in the samba configuration, that all profiles are

5.1p1 and X11 forwarding failing
I'm really scratching my head on this one. The server is running OpenSSH 5.1p1 on Solaris 9. The authentication is via PAM if that matters. # grep X11 sshd_config | sed '/^#/D' X11Forwarding yes X11DisplayOffset 10 X11UseLocalhost yes # Now I attach to my 'master' sshd and follow all children to look for any evidence of "DISPLAY": # truss -f -a -e -p 14923

SecurID
When comparing SSH 1.2.27 with OpenSSH 2.5.1 I see that the SecurID code/patch is not in OpenSSH 2.5.1. I'm not sure how or why that happened. Upon looking through the OpenSSH 2.5.1 source, I think I could fairly easily provide a 'SecurID Authentication Method' patch (which would rely on -DHAVE_SECURID, -I/blah/securid/include, and -L/blah/securid/lib... /blah/securid being a

log level = 20 not showing auth, etc...
Samba 3.5.6 I must be really misunderstanding 'log level' somehow. I have tried all of the following and cannot get my logs to show anything related to authentication or share accesses at all: log level = 20 log level = all:20 log lovel = 3 auth:20 If I access one of the server's shares successfully, not a single thing shows up in the log. Yes, I am looking at the

Hi, I''m running Nevada 75a configured as dom0. I added a domU HVM running Nevada 75a, on a Sun X4600 with 8 ADM Dual cores. I can get the domU installed and configured, however, I can not get any network connectivity. I followed the steps accoding to documents on Open Solaris. I also followed some of the threads of the list to verify the configuration, but I can not fix the

Mount a dvd image...?
Hi all, just wanted to ask if it''s possible to mount a dvd image under a domU win as a "cd-rom"? The "usual" notation (''file:/export/winxp/winxp.iso,hda:cdrom,r'' becomes ''file:/other/path/whateverDVD.iso,hdf:cdrom,r'') does not seem to work (in the .py file); when I start the xp domU, it simply ignores it, no drive is shown. I tried

Unnecessarily different, right? Why not pick one form or the other consistently? --with-something-dir (makes much more sense) or --with-something (looks like a package enabler)
