syntax problem with 2.6.3-rc3
The inet stuff is including, asm/byteorder.h It has some inlines like this: static __inline__ __attribute_const__ __u64 ___arch__swab64(__u64 val) I think I'm choking on the __attribue_const__ Do we need an include of linux/compiler.h somewhere? ../linux/include/asm/byteorder.h:28: error: syntax error before "__u64"compiling inet_ntoa.c (gcc)../linux/include/asm/byteorder.h:14:

Does rsync detect file corruption?
Hello, Suppose that every day cron runs this: rsync -a --times --delete $HOME /my/backups/dir/latest In general, rsync will only update a file if it has been modified. Now, imagine that one of the files becomes corrupted in the backup directory, but the timestamp hasn't changed. Will rsync detect this? I am using rsync in a backup solution which could be summarized to: cd

Compile error "iproute2"
Hi, I am trying to compile "iproute2" (iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss020116-try.tar.gz, inclusively the latest HTB patch, activated diffserv components) on a SuSE-Linux 8.2 system (using "gcc 3.3", system based on "glibc 2.3.2"). It is no problem as long as I use the kernel header files of linux-2.4.20 (vanilla), linux-2.4.20.SuSE (special kernel patched by SuSE, shipped

[nbdkit PATCH 3/3] RFC swab: Re-enable .extents
This reverts commit 2c5aec42cf04c567639bd885cf12a57192229215. Now that we have an easy way to generate aligned extents from the plugin, where the client will never see an unaligned extent transition, it's time to put it to use. Signed-off-by: Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> --- Here's what I used on the command line; I need to turn it into a formal test: $ ./nbdkit -U - eval

Re: [LARTC} how can I compile tc
Ok, I tried it out but for some reason it doesn''t take for the compile process. This is, after export KERNEL_INCLUDE=/usr/src/linux/include/ if I run export this declare -x KERNEL_INCLUDE="/usr/src/linux/include/" is there. But when I run make in iproute2 I still get the /usr/include/linux/ip.h:93:2: error: #error "Endian problem - this didn''t happen"

Adding OpenBSD sudo to the FreeBSD base system?
Aloha! (I've Googled around a bit, but failed to find much previous posts about this though I'm sure it has been discussed...) Have anybody (in core etc) considered adding a sudo implementation to thr FreeBSD base system. At least for me, sudo is an important part of implementing good security policy in FreeBSD. Yes, it is available as a port, but in a similar fashion of for example,

sharing /etc/passwd
How 'bout PAM? /usr/ports/security/pam_ldap. If you have machines that can't do PAM, perhaps NIS is the way to go (assuming, of course, you're behind a firewall). You can store login information in LDAP like you want, then use a home-grown script to extract the information to a NIS map. Or, if you have a Solaris 8 machine lying around, you can cut out the middle step and use
