VLANs are your friend, otherwise DHCPD is not going to understand how to properly answer your request for different networks on the same interface. ----- On 14 Jan, 2017, at 11:59, Gregory P. bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hi Rowland, I resolve the problem partially. The problem was due to the fact that I do not have winbind installed because Samba 4, Bind9 and isc-dhcp-server are on the same server. I commented on these lines in the script dhcp-dyndns.sh and it worked (on commit and on release but not on expiry ) #TESTUSER=$(wbinfo -u | grep dhcpduser) #if [ -z "${TESTUSER}" ]; then # echo "No

dhcp requests being ignored wit reason "not authoritative"
Hi, I am trying to get an IP adress, nfs root host and directory information for a xen vm on the kernel level at boot time from dhcp. When the dhcp requests from the xen VM arrive on my server, my dhcp server denies to give them an IP address, it''s syslog reads: May 4 05:13:21 amalgam dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 255.255.255.255 (1.2.3.4) from 00:16:3e:00:00:11 via eth0: ignored (not

Special dhcp options and PXElinux
Hi I am trying to enable my dhcpd and pxelinux setup to use a specific config file for a booting client. I have read the pxelinux page for this (http://syslinux.zytor.com/pxe.php#special) but still seem to be encountering problems. When running the dhcpd with the '-d' debug option the daemon sees the DHCPDISCOVER from the client and then core dumps. On the client side the DHCPDISCOVER

Internal DNS strangeness in 4.1.16
Hi, ? I have just provisioned a new samba setup with 2 DCs running ISC DHCPd in failover and I?m trying to get it to play nice with samba internal DNS but I?m having some issues. 1) I?m using on commit, etc triggers in the dhcpd config to call a script that calls samba-tool to add, delete or update DNS. This script works fine when I call it from the command line as the dhcpd user but when called
