W(RED) curve implementation in Linux DiffServ
Hi! I have a Traffic Control/QoS question about the W(RED - Random Early Detection/Discard) curve implementation in the Traffic Control environment. Is this the right curve for RED - has it been tried to be implemented in the Traffic Control environment?: An Analytical RED Function Design Guaranteeing Stable System Behavior: http://www.ist-mobydick.org/publications/aqm_iscc2003.pdf Citat:

Routing problems
Hi, I have some problems with my routing configuration. My router has two connections to the internet, eth1 (2Mbit) and ppp0 (ADSL). On the eth1 connection I do a –snat and on ppp0 I do masquerading. I use iptables to mark packets / connections in the -t mangle -A PREROUTING and OUTPUT chains. The marks (1 and 2) are used to decide which route do use to route a packet. My routing configuration:

win98 browsing problem across VPN subnets
I have just setup a VPN connection three sites using IPCOP. Everything seems to be talking ok, apart from browsing the network neighborhood. There are no NT/Win2K/XP servers running on any of the sites, all sites are just running win98 pc's using tcp/ip. I have tried configuring all PC's to be on the same workgroup and setup sharing, but still each site can only see the pc's

Problem with SysLinux but not with LILO
Hi, I am trying to use two products that use SysLinux and finally realised the SysLinux is the cause of my woes. I'm trying to use Freesco and IPCop. IPCop version 1.3 used a different boot loader to 1.4 which uses SysLinux. I have been through numerous trials and tribulations in trying to get Freesco to work but eventually gave up and went with IPCop. I kept getting the "Boot

IPCop updates, Evolution Calendar rarely crashes now
I know a lot of you are using IPCop where you work. They have three (3) updates posted, during the past two (2) days. The last one, I'm getting an error, when I try to Download it, and I will report that to the IPCop list or bugzilla after I send this message. "No such file or directory http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ipcop/ipcop-1.4.21-update.i386.tgz.gpg?download" The problem I

How to deal with pciback?
Hello everybody, for just one week I try to install three servers on an OpenSuSE 10.3 dom0 equipped with 4 NICs. One server is an OX using the onboard NIC via xenbr0. This server runs!! For my IPCop server I intended to use the three remaining NICs (Intel Pro100/S, 3Com 3C590, Realtek RTL-8139). These three NICs should be used natively by my IPCop. So I tried to use the pciback driver. I wrote a

proxy server - ipcop vs CentOS
I have purchased a used Compaq DL360 which I was going to use as a proxy server. Presently, we are using a cheap box with ipcop which is working fine but it didn't have much RAM (64MB), etc. This new box we will want to run squid and perhaps dansguardian for filtering (this is a non-profit company) and I'm wondering if I should just put ipcop on it or would it be smarter/better to install

vmware problem took down X on host?
I run VMWare server 1.07 on Centos 5. Last night I left a Windows 2000 virtual machine doing a ClamWin scan of drive M: when I went to bed around midnight. Drive M: is actually a volume on the Centos 5 host, mounted via Samba. It has about 40Gb of photos on it, plus a few other things. I had the VM up visible in the VMWare Server Console running under KDE on display 8 (X session #1), my

Archives and question
Hello-- I am brand new to this list. I''ve been using a pre-packaged subset of Linux that comes with an application called IPCop. (If you''re unfamiliar with IPCop, I think it''s a wonderful, easy-to-use firewall application that will run on pretty low-end hardware.) But otherwise I''m pretty much a neophyte with Linux. Two questions: 1. Is there an archive for

Advice....
Hi, I''m a relative newbie to LARTC but I have read Matthew Marsh''s book and lurked on this list for a while.... I still seem to be missing a few key ideas here.... So... Maybe folks on the list will be kind enough to help. I have two different ISPs. Cogent and Bell. I have three different firewalls (2 PIX and 1 IPCop). And I have an Ubuntu Linux box doing LARTC for around

my shaping rules wont work on nat box
I am currently running the following script on an internal machine to shape outbound ftp and email traffic. I am trying to move the script to my nat router (ipcop with 2 nic cards) so that it shapes the whole network and not only the outbound of 1 box. I have cable modem -> ipcop (eth1) >(eth0 - 192.168.1.1) > 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101. The scripts works great running on

Proxyarp vs DNAT
Hello list, I am in the process of switching from IPCOP to Shorewall s the firewall for our small office. I very much like the fact that Shorewall runs on top of the same OS (openSuSE 11.4) that I run on the server and my desktop. Our setup is fairly straightforward. We have 8 static ip addresses from our ISP, which provides a cable modem and a Cisco 800 series router. The ip addresses are

Hello to everyone in the list, i have a IPCop firewall with vpn service running and just one roadwarrior (xp sp2 pc), everything is fine, but when the remote pc tries to connect (or just view) to the samba file server shares there is no accessible. The other clients of the lan are all visibles. Is there any way to view and share the samba file server through the ipcop vpn or i need to setup a

syslinux-2.11 boot, syslinux-3.20 fail
We used syslinux package on IPCop with success to install from floppy, from cdrom, from usb key and pxe. I upgrade the distribution nine month ago from 2.11 to more recent versions (3.11, later 3.20). We add one consistent report of a laptop machine that boot with 2.11 but fail with 3.11 and 3.20 Symptom is that the machine don't display anything after loading the kernel and initrd. with

Where to best start looking for voicemail/moh sound quality problem?
I'm running Asterisk 1.2.13 on a Solaris 10 X86 box behind an IPCop firewall on a 5Mbps down/512 up cable connection. I'm having sound quality problems when users call in for voicemail and with music on hold. The sound is choppy and muffled while souding pretty good for calls inside the network. I'd appreciate some pointers as to where to start looking to improve things. I've

Documentation corrections
Folks, I am interested in contributing to LLVM in the future. Meanwhile, I am reading many of the project documents (right now, "TableGen Language Reference"). Is there a way I can contribute corrections to these documents without cloning and building LLVM? ~~ Paul ---------------------------------------------------------------- Windfall Paul C. Help PLEASE...Multi-Routing for ADSL on Linux: Request for pointers..
Hi all I am a small business user running my IT infrastructure on Whitebox linux (RHEL3 clone), with ADSL connectivity with a static ip, using the ipcop firewall gateway (www.ipcop.org). I run my own web/mail server as my website usage is not much and I cannot afford to lease a dedicated server on the net, and leasing a shared server...I lose control. My DSL is prone to frequent outages and
