wireless card for CentOS
Hi, I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box. By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper (or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever. Thanks

Office (2003) saving excel sheet takes VERY long..
Hi! Maybe you can help me, would be very nice! I'm new to the list and I'm very glad that it exists... A week ago we migrated to samba and since then it's taking very long to save a 1,8MB excel document. On fast ethernet it takes us about 10 seconds, on wireless lan it can take up to a minute, although transferring the same amount of data from the very same machine, that is

Hi, I have a laptop DELL M90 with an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card. After installed new rpm drivers (see below), my card is recognized and I can see my wireless acces point with (iwlist - iwconfig) but it's impossible to connect to it. It seem that I can't obtain an IP address. In the log message I have "dhclient : DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval ) The

Samba 3.0.24 - group permissions
Hello - I upgraded from FC4 to FC6. My samba configuration (samba 3.0.1x) was working just fine until I upgraded to FC6 and Samba 3.0.24. I had shares who where protected and only some users and groups can access them. I used valid users = @wireless, where the group wireless had 10 users. Before the upgrade this was working just fine. Now nobody from @wireless group members can access the

CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)
With CentOS 7.2 a laptop wireless card is recognized in dmesg, but nonfunctional. Toggling the hardware wifi switch causes the Bluetooth icon to appear and disappear. The network configuration window shows the Wireless tab greyed out. Rebooting with the bluetooth enabled does not help. It appears the appropriate driver is iwlwifi, which is what works in Fedora and appears to be available and

Turning Wireless Radio on and off: how?
Hi all, I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a Broadcom 1390 Wlan mini card (integrated) wireless lan chipset. I've got an init script setup to activate the wireless connection at boot time, however when the system boots the adapter doesn't connect. I'm not able to get a connection until after the desktop is done loading and I run the script from the command line. After some

wireless question
I've had no luck with getting a wireless card to work. Before I go buy another card, I wanted to see if there is a way I could do this instead. I've got a second wireless router that I'm not using right now. So I would like to find out if there is a way I can make this work. I was thinking about connecting the second wireless router to my pc through the ethernet port, and let the

Wireless Interface Does Not Connect Automatically At StartUp
I have recently installed CentOS 6 on a system with a Realtek 8180L wireless card. The wireless card is detected properly and uses the rtl8180 driver. But it connects to our wireless network only after logging to the Desktop Environment (GNOME) and using the Network Manager Applet. In order to make the wireless card connect to the network automatically at system start up, I edited the Connection

[Bridge] RFC: [PATCH] bridge vlan integration
Hi, The attached patches enables the bridge to filter and forward packets according to their IEEE 802.1q headers. The goals behind this change include : - Enable running STP on 802.1q tagged networks. STP packets must be untagged. It isn't obvious how else to enable STP with the current bridge and vlan code. - Add native support for an untagged vlan. Currently an untagged vlan can

Strange behaviour of Samba3 with wireless clients
I have built my own wireless AP with Ubuntu 7.10 and an Atheros-based wireless card. My problem is that I can't access any of the Samba shares with my wireless clients...they can all search for the server, get prompted for a login then it just hangs and eventually times out. The same clients, when using their LAN ports to connect to the same server, are able to do everything--browse and

CentOS on Dell Inspiron 640m laptop
I ordered and just received today a new Dell Inspiron 640m laptop (it also goes by the name E1405). Anyone tried installing CentOS on this laptop? It's the wireless drivers I'm most concerned about; it's got the Dell 1390 internal wireless card (not the Intel wireless). Anyone have some feedback, on the wireless or any other issues, on running CentOS on this laptop? Thanks Paul
