Rshaper Weirdness
Hello, guys, I am trying to get rshaper 2.01 to work on our Redhat 6.2 servers, but it does not seem to be able to control the bandwidth usage, here are the details,
1. Our production servers are all Redhat 6.2 with Kernel 2.2.19-6.2.12, the software we use are customized specifically for RH6.2, so I can''t upgrade to 2.4 kernel.
2. On my test server with the same RH6.2 and kernel (it has

problem using rshaper
Hello,
We are managing the control of outgoing bandwidth using HTB. We are
trying to use rshaper to control our incoming bandwidth. But the bandwidth
doesn''t seem to come under the specified limit. We are not sure what we did
is right. This is what we did.
insmod rshaper.o
rshaperctl 192.168.1.20 500
There were no errors.
192.168.1.20 is our IP in a LAN.

Ownership lost: linux -> windows -> linux
Hi,
I have a problem of loss of file ownership with rsync.
For some odd reasons, I have to use a windows machine
as rsync server, and to backup/restore a filesystem
from/to a linux client.
All files in my linux filesystem are owned by root,
with gid root.
If I save the files onto the windows rsync server from
linux using rsync, and then restore them back to
linux, the ownership for all files

adding Windows Domain users to a unix group
Hi All,
Just joined the list. The postings are very helpful
for me to implementing samba for my work place.
I am running samba 3.0.1 or RED HAT 9.0.
Does anybody know how to add Windows domain users to a
linux usergroup? My PDC is running Windows 2000. I do
not have permissions to create groups on the Windows
PDC. Windbind is working fine on the Redhat machine. I
can map to the linux samba

IConnect audio quality
Hello,
I've subscribbed to "IConnect". I use it eclusively for outbound
calling. I like the rates they charge but people I call complain about
the audio quality. They say it sounds like I'm using a "cheap mic." or
they
complain about echo. The sound is very clean at my end. I'm using
a Bundgtone phone with meadi routed through Asterisk to IConnect.

Suddenly need IP address to mount SMB share
I really need a hand here. I'm running Red Hat 9.0 and
recently got the Up2Date certificates updated such
that I finally got all of the updates from Red Hat. I
run the publishers addition of Red Hat.
Prior to the change, I used to mount an SMB share
really easily with a simple shell script than went
#!/bin/bash
smbmount //Server/share /mnt/point -o
dmask=777,fmask=777
But after I finally

integrating active directory with samba 3.0
Hi can some please help me integrate samba 3.0 with
active directory. I'm very confused about this process
so far my research led me to the following article
http://asia.cnet.com/itmanager/netadmin/0,39006400,39081966,00.htm.
However other research led me to the use of winbind
for this setup. The confusing thing is that the
article did not mention winbind. I would like to have

when i try to start the icecast server i get the
following error:

I did make sure that iptables has port 8000 open for

Any suggestions for troubleshooting? Thanks.

Public switches (AXE10) not capable of handling sustained call setup bursts on E100P
Hi,
I'm running a simple test from asterisk towards a
public telco switch (AXE10) over E100P.
Here is the test case:
1) 30 calls are setup simultainously, 20 sec ringing
time.
2) no calls answers (just calling a vacant public tax
office :=)
3) Each channel will continue on its own with the same
proceedure: ring for 20 sec, then hangup, ring for 20
sec, and so on.
Of course this leads to

isolinux serial console keyboard issue
Hello list,
I am trying to use the console to setup my machine.
During boot I am able see the syslinux boot prompt on
the serial console *and* the monitor, but I can not
use the console keyboard. I can only use the keyboard
that is connected on the machine. After the kernel is
loaded, the console keyboard starts working, but, this
does not help me much, since I still need to use the

icecast hangs at start
thanks for the reply.
the problem is after i start icecast with icecast -c
/path to icecast.xml, i see the following:
Changed groupid to 501.
Changed userid to 501.
and then it just hangs. i do not get a command prompt
or anything. so i was wondering if there are any
other messages that normally follow during the startup
process.
