setting quantum values
Hi,
when we add a class we get an error "HTB Quantum too small,or too big"
i read in docum.org that we need to set the quantun value which should be >1500 and <60000.
but i need to add classes with diff type of rates.
eg : Min : 32 kbit and Max : 512 kbit.
now in this case how do i set my quantum value which satifies all types of rates.
Pls let me know,This is very urgent for

Warnings with and without r2q
Hi everyone,
My HTB script is showing me those "r2q change" warnings. I read that I
should test with r2q values to gain accuracy and stop the warnings but I
made some tests with r2q and with burst and I still get the warnings. Any
ideas on this issue will be very helpful. The script seems to be working as
the bandwidth for the IPs is being shaped.
The NIC works at 100mbit and the

quantum message
Hey all,
When I run my scripts to manage my ungodly slow school connection, I get
messages about the quantum size being small and suggesting a r2q change.
What is this all about, and should I do anything? my link is effectively
45kBps and I have it set to limit to 42kBps.
Thanks,
Jay

but, my r2q=1 I can''t reduce that variable...
how must I procced ?
Thank you!

R2Q
Hello again,
I need to change the R2Q for my script, as setting the quantum manually for
each class is painful. Can you tell me exactly where to set R2Q = x?
I get syntax errors all the time. Should it be specified for each class? I
do not know where to place this setting...
Thanks in advance,
Vlad Mihai

QOS and gameserver lags
Dear list,
I have experimented some time now with HTB queues, and have received
a lot of help from this list, especially from Stef. Thank you.
My currect Shaper looks like this:

Unfortunately I still experience lags of this type:
-players from the internet playing on my server feel lags
-I feel lags when I play on a different server on the

quantum
Dear all,
I''m new to traffic shapping although i have gone through marking and HTB queueing but i felt trouble in tc filter . I wonder if any one give me the hints about quantum or r2q.
i guess quantum is used when two class has same prio and rate and want to give first priority between them and control the borrowing traffic. It should be set more than MTU too. But my

htb & bandwidth sharing
Hi everybody!
I''ve been trying with htb and tc filter. It seemed to work fine, but
after testing with ethloop I''ve realized that traffic is not being
distributed through the leaves as I thought. When sending packets to
1:10 and 1:11 at the same time, there''s no bandwidth sharing. There''s no
traffic through 1:11 until traffic through 1:10 has finished. Though

Packet Loss !!
We have been using HTB for last 10-11 months without any problem. But from last few days we have been facing huge packet loss when we turn on traffic shaping using HTB. I upgraded to 2.4.24 kernel (without any htb patch), still there is same problem.
Avg. traffic is around 2Mbps and 4Mbps at peak hours. There are around 110 HTB classes and SFQ attached to each class.
We are using 4 port Tulip

dear All,
I'm a new student and my job is too shapping bandwith for our campus faculty network.
I want to implement htb with Redhat-9.0 distro.

HTB - problem with one thread
Hello,
Besides a very good functionality, I have a small, yet stressing, problem.
Let''s say I have a bandwidth of N bits.
I have X clients, everyone with his fixed bandwidth.
I create htb qdsics for each client. Each leaf has sfq queueing
discipline.
A sample config would be like this :
tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:2 classid 1:346 htb rate 32Kbit ceil 32Kbit
burst 4k

Consider r2q change, why !?
Hi,
My system always complain with the warning below :
HTB: quantum of class 10099 is small. Consider r2q change.
I simply do not understand why...
Below my tc commands :
/sbin/tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
/sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1 htb default 99
/sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:2 htb rate 128Kbit
/sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:2 classid 1:10 htb rate 80Kbit

Ho do i manage NAT''ed egress bandwidht?
Hi,
I have a Debian based NAT router. How can I manage upstream egress
bandwidth based on the LAN ipadress in the network below? My goal is
that host1 get a minumum of 10Mbit up/down and host2 gets a minimum of
90Mbit up/down, both max 100Mbit up/down?

HTB qdisc, why quantum <= 200000?
Hi,
Can anybody explain to me why the upper limit of quantum of a HTB class is
200000? Why the author choose this number? What if we expand this number,
for instant, 500000?
Thank you in advance
