Samba and non-ascii characters
Hello everyone, I have a problem with smbmount. After I mount a certain share, I can not view files with weird charaters in their name. This happends for example with the copyright char. After searching with Google I still didn't find an answer. I guess it has something to do with a 'charset' command, but I can't figure out wich one, and what character table I should use...

Compiling on a Cobalt RaQ1
Hello, I've downloaded version 2.5.2 and I tried compiling that one on a Cobalt RaQ1 server (maybe anyone has heard of them, they have that neat blue front). What I want is to make the RaQ1 a remote backup server, so I thought Rsync would be usefull... The compilation did not work, it stalled trying to compile clientserver.c (or something, I cannot acces the RaQ from where I am now). There

Maximum number of paralel connections
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I was wondering, most of the p2p programs are bandwith wasters, because they open lots of parallel connections. I have 5 queues to prioritize traffic, but these p2p open thousands of connections and my systems gets REALLY HIGH latence. Does anybody of you know by any means, for a DSL connections, the ammount of parallel connections for a good rate

OK. That's not tearing. That's like a bad pitch on an image. (Presumably you only find the second image, IMG_1968.jpg, problematic?) I'm guessing you're using a GL-based compositor, which I fully expect to work poorly. Please try a non-compositing or XRender-based compositing environment. Memory Loading
Our system has potentially a few thousand firewall rules and HTB classes. I need to find out the amount of memory these things consume: - iptables firewall rules - HTB classes If anyone has any easy links to this information, that would be great. Failing that, a pointer to a good place to look in the source code would be very helpful. _______________________________________________

bandwith calculation
I would like to know how to calculate the amount of bandwith I would need to host X number of calls. For example, if user A in San Francisco with an ATA 186 calls user B in New York with an ATA 186 and Asterisk is being hosted in a PC in Miami. How much bandwith do I need to have in Miami? Do I just need bandwith for the setup of the call (ie the SIP part) or are there any instances where the

Dynamic bandwith with HTB
Hi everybody. I have a dilema and I think you guys can help me out. I am trying to shape the bandwith for about 500 clients, and I want the bandwith to be alocated dynamicly. Lets say I have 4 MB bandwith. I give each ip (500 IP''s) a sustained rate of 4 KB/sec . I wonder if I can shape the bandwith so when for example only 100 clients are online, to give them a rate of 4MB/100. How can

The max of 300kbps or something less like 290kbps ? Especify less than the maximum available bandwith is advisable to ensure that the QoS algoritms goes

share bandwith between vpns
I have clients, which connectin to Internet through vpn. I want to dynamically share bandwith between vpn connections, so if there few connections, then they get all bandwith, if more then they get their minimal guaranteed bandwith. my idea is: ip-up.local: tc class add dev $DEV parent 1:1 classid 1:2${1/ppp/} htb rate $[$RATEUP/$VPNS]kbit ceil ${RATEUP}kbps tc filter add dev $DEV protocol ip

Bandwith vsatl - not static
I have a existencial problem. There are some provider that offer the service of bandwith asimetric as download/upload link as for example 512/256. but most of them offer not exclusive this amount of transmission or reception capacity. They usually offer the service with more users as a ratio of 1/10. How I can design a appropriate diagrama with htb where the amount of bandwith could vary.?

share bandwith fairly
Dear members, I am trying to share the bandwith for all users fairly. because some users heavily uses p2p programs and a few hosts consume most of bandwith. when we limit each flow it does not work as one client has many connection at same time. Firstly I tried to write a script that use the ipfm(which accounts traffic usage) logs as follow .extract ip addresses heavy bandwith users from
