I currently have a child class of a parent one. The parent defines some variable that I need to use in the child class. I am also using gepetto. Gepetto is complaining about the syntax of the child variable. It is saying that "$parentVar" should be "$::parentVar" however, when changing to what Gepetto wants to use this breaks my classes. Does anyone know the proper

Re: odd http header corruption
Hi, So more information on the header corruption. I tried adding a slice! instruction to remove the offending part of the http headers. Rails ActionController::CgiResponse normally uses the following: output.write(@cgi.header(@headers)) which I replaced with: headers = @cgi.header(@headers) headers.slice!(/#<#<(C|c)lass: 0x[\w\d]*>:0x[\w\d]*>/) output.write(headers) testing that

Too many open files leads to timeout exceptions in Mechanize/Net::HTTP?
I''m experiencing an issue where my get/submit calls to the Mechanize agent are leading to timeout exceptions when the ruby script has too many open file descriptors ( > 1000). However, I''m not seeing anything about an overstep violation sent anywhere to syslog, and no error message sent to stdout. The process has the large amount of open files because it''s

Uninitialized Constant in scaffold list page
I''m new to Ruby on Rails and just trying to get it up and running. I''m using RadRails, but I don''t think that matters for this problem. I''ve got a very basic app with one table and I used the scaffold generator for a table called datedgoals. The new page works fine, but then when it switches over to the list page, I get the errors below. Any idea how to fix

Problem changing cookie expiration
I''m trying to set the cookie expiration in my environment.rb file but I keep getting a syntax error on WeBRICK startup. I''m trying both of the ways listed in http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/HowtoChangeSessionOptions. FYI I''m new to rails so this is probably easy. 1) ActionController::Base.session_options[:session_expires] = Time.local(2008,"jan"))
