Hi all
Does anyone know if i can use ethernet aliases like eth0:1 in advanced
routing like multipath routing in order to avoid to have nxEthernet
interfaces in my Linux box.

IMQ & iptables 1.2.9
Hi all, I found in http://trash.net/~kaber/imq/index.html#sources the
precompiled iptables shared libs for 1.2.6 & 1.2.5, but my version is
1.2.9 (in Debian Sid) and I don''t know how to patch the .deb file. I
need the -j IMQ target... ¿What can I do?
Thanks!

QOS Script difficulty on bridge
I''m playing with the rather excellent QOS script from Alexander Clouter
at http://digriz.org.uk/jdg-qos-script/
So far I am really impressed with it - a very impressive example of the
power of linux QOS rules (has pretty much everything in it from the
LARTC Howto!) However, the instructions hint that "for QoS to affect
locally generated traffic in a non ethernet bridge setup

Packet marking for ingress shapping and NET
Hi,
I have typical situation, local LAN with private addresses, translated
via NAT to internet. I need to shape ingress traffic (from internet to
local LAN) in several HTB queues accorting to destination (private not
public) IP. So I need mark packets to divide them to corresponding
queue. According to http://www.docum.org/stef.coene/qos/kptd/ I thing I
have only one way how to do it, because

how flexible is ingress traffic policing to bandwidth limit?
[I sent this earlier but I guess the list is subscriber-only?]
I just set up wondershaper, it has a simple filter on the downstream
direction to limit the bandwidth usage:
tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress
tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \
0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1
This is effective but is there any way to

Scheduler Mechnisms!
Hello,
Normally, in addition to such qdisc scheduler mechanisms as FIFO, PQ, WRR, WFQ,
are there any more? Then, there is a confusion on scheduler in Linux enviroment:
Assume there is a qdisc, such as RED as a leaf qdisc in a router, we know, if
there is packet which want to enqueue the packet, the Function red_enqueue is
called, but when the packet leave the queue(when the Function red_dequeue

IMQ Stability
Hello all,
I have been doing a lot of archive searching over the last week reading
posts on IMQ and it''s apparent stability / instability. I have seen a
number of posts about it not being maintained as well. Can anyone talk to
me about IMQ''s stability in a heavy throughput environment (20 Mbps) and
what was causing IMQ to fail if you know.
Thanks,
Mike

htb: HowTo identify squid cache hits
Hi list...
I work for a school in the netherlands with a 2mbit Internet uplink and
about 3800 eager student who want to play games on the Internet using
one of our 800 workstations.
Problem was that those game playing students are concentrated in 2 of
our 6 physical locations... and they consumed the bandwidth which the
other location would like to use for educational purposes.
The thing we did

Bridge + leased line + tc
Hi,
I can''t get traffic shaping working.
This is my situation:
-------- ------
Net1 ----- |router| -------------------- | TC | ----------- Net2
-------- leased line ------
eth1 eth0
We use the leased line for normal traffic but also for synchronisation
between 2 servers. The leased line is 2mbit. The synchronisation

IMQ problems :-(
Hi
I have built a custom TMB Mandrake kernel (2.4.22) with IMQ and ESFQ
support. I statically compiled both (mistake?) ESFQ is sorted and
working fine (I have succesfully patched IPROUTE2).
I have got to the stage where I can see the IMQ device as UP with ifconfig.
I can use TC to add QDISCs to the IMQ device. However I just cannot sort out
IPTABLES to actually redirect packets to the IMQ

Best method for filtering ACKs?
Hello,
I''m wondering which of these filters is the best method for filtering ACK
packages to achieve lowest delay possible on a dsl-link.
This one ist from the wondershaper from the lartc-site:
/sbin/tc filter add dev $EXTIF parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 0 u32 \
match ip protocol 6 0xff \
match u8 0x05 0x0f at 0 \
match u16 0x0000 0xffc0 at 2 \
flowid 1:10

Sharing bandwidth
Hi there,
I''ve got the following problem on my hand.....
I''m a sysop for a school in the netherlands. We have a network with 5
different schools (and 1 administration). Each of those have their own
ip range in the private network (10.4.0.0 10.5.0.0 and so on).
For all these schools we have an internet uplink of 2mbit. And this
bandwidth should be shared as fairly as possible.

Iptables matching on IFB
Hey folks,
I stumbled across the Mastershaper project
( http://www.mastershaper.org/ ) but I have a little problem:
I wanted to shape the traffic coming from the router itself aswell as
coming from the LAN behind the router, for that task I need IMQ, but
with IMQ iptables-(layer7)-matching is not possible. Now I''ve talked
with the programmer and he said the following:

[Help] IMQ download traffic is duplicated !?
Hi,
I have a default class for my un-marked traffic (prio 5) and a prio 0 class for the important stuff,
but I do not understand why my download traffic is duplicated in both.
It work fine for my upload traffic (same setting except the red class but I have the same
result if I create an esfq instead).
Any comments/information will be appreciated.
