shaping
Hi! Is there any way to do just plain vanilla TBF (Token Buck Filter) type shaping on a group of ips/networks, not an entire interface. Currently the only way I know how to shape in Linux is to use HTB or CBQ, but both of these need a total rate and then you need to subdivide that into classes. That is not what I want. All I want is Cisco generic traffic shaping style shaping (or similar to how

HTB bug?
Hi! A couple of weeks ago we started using the Linux TC implementation to shape clients (using HTB) and since then our QoS box started crashing every now and again (talk about inconvenient timing :P). First we suspected hardware, but we replaced the hardware this week and it still keeps crashing. Current machine specs: Celeron 400 MHz 128MB Ram 128MB Compact Flash storage Distribution: stripped

Graphing tc output
Hi, My HTB shaping is working perfectly, and i have setup a bridge and hosts behind the bridge are now getting only the bandwidth they are supposed to get. Thanks to every one here for helping me out :) Now I am thinking of making a graph of traffic going through various classes. Is their any thing readily available for it, or is parsing the output if tc and passing it to rrdtool the

monitoring classes
Greetings all, I''ve been searching high and low for any inkling of how people are monitoring classes for long term usage data. I''m thinking something along a script to collect the data for mrtg or perhaps even an snmp module that would present them as interfaces to be polled....has anyone done any work in this area? Re: 2.4.20 htb3 oops
Hi everyone, I am having problems with "oopses" since I introduced HTB on my company''s PC-based routers. It seems that only routers with high network load are affected. The average network load on the two most problematic routers are 10Mbps in/out and 2.5Mbps in/out. The other machines with less than 1Mbps average traffic seems unaffected. We have been getting oopses on

Ingress shaping for ISP clients
Hi all, I''m looking for the best way to set up a Linux router with "tc" to limit the incoming bandwidth my ISP''s clients use. Please assist me with the following: Diagram: INTERNET | | | |eth0 ----------- Linux router/shaper |eth1 | | | --------------- Clients1(64k)/2(128k)/3(64k)/... rtnetlink documentation
Hello, I would like to ask, if somewhere exists documentation about rtnetlink interface? Something more than kernel documentation and manual pages (man rtnetlink and man netlink). I want create traffic classes, filters and so on (only cbq classes and some filters based on fwmark), like tc utility from Alexey does, but can''t find any relevant docs on net. -- Michal Charvat Prokon

tc monitoring
I have managed to dynamically parse the output of commands: tc qdisc ls dev eth0 and tc -s class show dev eth0 Save statistics in an rrd database and display it via a php script. see http://143.233.4.215/graph.php and dload scripts from http://143.233.4.210/qos/ My next step in developing this monitoring software is to somehow manage to create a tree out of tc and then use it to greatly

ipip and nexthdr
After carefull reading (LARTC) and experimentation, I am in a dead end... I am using several IPIP tunnels (linux ipip module, IP protocol 4). I''d like to filter packets going through these tunnes to different classes, on the ingress device, based on source and destination IP _INSIDE THE TUNNEL_. First I tried the nexthdr bit. As explained in LARTC, nexthdr jumps to the next header

QoS net-snmp ?
Hi I''ve patched net-mrtg http://www.net-snmp.org/ with http://x-ray.prokon.cz/data/snmp/ sucefully Also I''ve copied QOS.TXT to /usr/local/share/snmp/mibs when I make a normal use of snmp, with mrtg in order to monitor all traffic on eth0 and eth1, it works OK. But, how must I do in order to get monitor for a specific class ? If I make a snmpwalk (like README suggest), I get

Is Linux based Router feasible
Hi, I''ve a local LAN consisting of about 150 machines. I''m using a Linux machine as the gateway machine which inturn connects to two different ISPs. My question is can a Linux based machine match the performance of a hardware based routers provided by Cisco,... OR is my decision to go for a Linux based solution is a wrong one?. Is there so much difference between these

Transfer rate above the desired (tc+htb)
Hi folks. I started to play with tc+htb last week, and I must confess that this thing is really driving me nuts. All we want to do is control bw, with no borrowing. In order to get the feeling on this subject, I have setup the following test bed. ---A---B---C--- On B: eth0 connecting A and eth1 connecting C. The script. tc qdisc del dev eth0 root tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb
