oracle adapter + activerecord sessions do not work
Anyone know what''s up with the activerecord session store when using the oracle adapter in Rails 2.0.2 ? I can set a session variable and can then see it''s actually set using the debugger, but after the request completes the session is empty (the @data member is nil). The session_id is staying the same and the updated_at field is being updated but nothing I put in a session

Multi-databases support
Hi, While I was hacking ovirt-server, I have found that it's currently restricted to Postgres DB. Even if I like postgres for serious work on a server, I really prefer to hack/dev locally on a Sqlite or MySQL DB. I have googled on rails in order to find a good answer for the "foreign key problem" which forces OVirt to stay on pg. I have found a plugin on this particular

Mixing stored procedure call with RoR db calls in the same function gives errors
Folks, I am using ruby 1.8.5 with rails 1.2.3 and have made changes to mysql_adapter.rb based on recommendations made here http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/StoredProceduresInMySql to be able to use stored procs in my code. I have changed this call in mysql_adapter.rb ConnectionAdapters::MysqlAdapter.new(mysql, logger, [host, username, password, database, port, socket], config) to

How to dummy a DB adapter?
I am writing a library module to handle certain StatementInvalid type AR exceptions. I wish to catch the case where the db adapter in use is not supported by the module. I would like to test this situation and have only a vague idea as to how to proceed. My exception handling method selects the parsing method based on the adapter_name value. def hll_ar_exception(exception) raise

Problem with ActiveRecord, create, save, and Oracle adapter?
Hi all, Ruby 1.8.4 Rails 1.1 OCI8 0.1.14 I think I''m hitting an issue with ActiveRecord::Base#save and the Oracle adapter. Line 158 in the schedules_controller.rb file is simply: 158: if @schedule.save 159: flash[:notice] = ''Schedule was successfully created.'' 160: redirect_to :action => ''list'' 161: else 162: render :action =>

Can't use models in migrations
Hi there, This always used to work for me... but not now. I want to blame Rails 1.2 but I''m sure its not. I can''t use AR models in my migrations. To make sure its not just my dodgy code I tried to do the same with a well known plugin.. acts_as_versioned. A migration such as the one below (taken from acts_as_versioned) is giving the error undefined method

ActiveRecord 2.1 Migration support
Hi all, I am in the process of adding Migration support to the Ingres ActiveRecord adapter and have run in to a problem. During the call to create_table the Ingres adapter some how causes ruby to blow the stack and coredump/segv. I have tracked down the problem down to "add_column_options!" in "lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/schema_statements.rb".

ActiveRecord Oracle and nvarchar2 or nclob datatype
Hi, I ve got oracle database which exists prior to my rails app... :-( I ve got trouble when I am updating/inserting records of a table which includes nvarchar2 attributes. Impossible to get stable?
I have concluded that it is impossible to get this background process stable. I am out of ideas and could really use some help. Here is what I have: 50 workers, just running an infinite loop that constantly calls save! on a model. Keep in mind this is just for testing purposes. I catch all exceptions and put them in the log. I am tried setting allow_concurrency to true and false. Neither

Hi everyone, I''m working on a new rails project and have to build it on top of a legacy oracle database. I''m trying to figure out how to get the number value from a NUMBER(1) datatype. So far I''m only getting a "true" value for 1 and "false" for any other number. From the console I can print out my object values and can see that there are number

1 or true in TINYINT(1) column?
Hello, there is a table that has a column TINYINT(1) called status. Through mysql console I see its value as 1 (when is true) but if I do this in Rails console: Mytable.status => true give me "true" rather "1". How could I change 1 to true using some method? Or true to 1? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are

Multiparameter error
Hello, What''s the best way to deal with dates prior to 1970 using Rails. I''ve seen some suggestions for hacks to fallback to the Date class if Time fails, but I''m not sure exactly how to implement them. This is from the wiki require ''date'' # It''s necessary to do this, because Time doesn''t # support dates before 1970... class

mangle ActiveRecord
Dear Gurus on Rails! How do I change the behaviour of one method in ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::SchemaStatements ? Full story: I''d like to mangle ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::SchemaStatements so when it creates a new sql table, it also (optionally) creates my created_at, deleted, key_id, session_id etc columns that I use on basically all tables. It would not be DRY to repeat
