cookies are mandatory for Rails app?
is it true that Rails depend on cookies? It seems that flash is a part
of session, and session uses cookies... so when i disable cookie in
Firefox, what was working became
ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken
so is it true that for a RoR app to work, cookies are mandatory?

Eruby.import -> "uninitialized constant" error
I''m working on porting a dynamic website done in PHP over to mod_ruby. I
have everything set up and working nicely (I can make a .rhtml page, put
ruby code between <% %> and it works etc), but when I try to use
"Eruby.import" as a sort of analog to PHP''s "require_once()", I run into

render_to_string in a model ?
I have a batch job that will call script/runner, I would like in this
call to create html formated email and save it to the database. This is
easy enough in a controller with

Help in upgrading from 1.1.6 to 1.2.3
Hi, I was developing a rails app with version 1.1.6 that just worked
fine.
I decided to upgrade to 1.2.3 and then, I keep getting that horrible
message:

Hello there list-
I have a question I hope someone can answer. I have a Debian server
that currently has mod_ruby and eruby installed and working great for
the last year or so. I also have one rails app working great on this
box. My question is this: I want to switch to fastcgi so i can have
more than one rails app, but there are already many scripts using eruby

is f.submit in a form_for newer than submit_tag?
some books or even the rails api uses
form_for ...
...
submit_tag ...
end
and i found that the Rails 2.3.2 Scaffold uses
f.submit "Go"
instead... and this is not in the rails api doc. Is this a new
addition and is it suppose to replace submit_tag?

how does form_for and validate_presence_of work hand in hand
when we have validate_presence_of :name in the model and then when we
put in the create action that we re-render ''new'', then the form_for will
populate the fields, and error_messages_for ''story'' will have the
correct error message.

Native erb lacks -%>, where is Rails'' erb?
Native ERB in ruby, and eruby, seem to lack the -%> feature for
suppressing trailing newlines. Thus
erb -n script
gives errors. Where is Rails ERB so I can invoke it directly?

Delete the fixtures on a functionnal test
Hi,
Since couple a day, I block with the delete of my fixtures in my
functionnals test. In my controller, I need test a redirect if there

assert_select issue
I''d like to do an assert_select where only ONE of the matching elements
needs to match the :text.
It seems counterintuitive to me to require them *all* to match, which
precludes me from testing the existence of a particular tag (h1) with
some particular text if other instances of the same tag exist.
I know that I can narrow down the field by using more detailed
