burst according to time limit??? (plz dont blame me for previous html,Outlook)
I was wondering if there is a queue with which I could have a
regular rate limit at some kbits (say 256kbits) for my ethernet stations,
but allow burstable sessions
with a multiple limit (512 kbits) for a specific time (say 3 minutes).
Of course, this is the same with having bursts of some Megabit buckets
(measuring bits and not time), but for such big bursts i think it isn''t

HTB classifying
I am trying to shape a client (somewhat advanced).
This is my target:
Client is 192.168.2.224. I would like to allow him to download with
500000 bits/sec in general. But, for a specific port(say 22), i would
like him to download with 300000 bit/sec only. The problem is that my
configuration (maybe wrong) allows him to download with 800000 bit/sec.
(500000 generally + 300000 on port 22)
I thought

IAX2 trunking: codec bandwidth comparison notes and results

HTB burstable for 2 interface , how ?
Dear folks,
Here goes my bandwidth manager:
INTERNET
|
|eth0 202.14.41.1
BW.Manager
| |
| +----eth1----192.168.1.0/24
|
+------eth2----192.168.2.0/24
Total incoming bandwidth to eth0 is 1024kbps
should be shared to eth1 and eth2, which mean each get 512Kbps and
burstable to 1024Kbps if other host is idle.
My question is how do i apply HTB to these situation ?
As far as i know eth1 and eth2

infinite amount of data for HTB burst
Dear all,
I''d like to ask for help with HTB configuration (after
having read some manual pages, FAQs and forum posts).
Short version: is there a way to specify infinite burst for HTB?
(Infinite amount of data to use the "ceil" rate.)
Long version:
I have the following small topology:

Xen 3.0.2-2 + linux-2.6-xen-fedora
Did anybody have success in setting up xen 3.0.2-2 with a newer kernel
than 2.6.16? I ran into the same LVM problems as mentioned before on
this list (not being able to lvremove a snapshot).
Now I''m trying to get the 2.6.18 running from the fedora repository (
http://hg.et.redhat.com/kernel/linux-2.6-xen-fedora ) but I didn''t have
any success so far. The xen hypervisor binary

HTB Rate and Prio
Hi,
I wanted to implement some QOS on my Linux Box with HTB, but after some time
spend
on the configuration and tests, I still don''t manage to have some correct
results. Here are the details :

(off-topic)Update sii-3512A serial ata controller - which flash memory?
Hi.
I had to update the BIOS of a Silicon Image 3512A Serial ATA controller.
I''m not using RAID.
When I run the updater program (updflash.exe), it asks me to choose
flash memory from a list, something like: AMD Am29F010B (1 Megabit), AMD
Am29LV01B (1 Megabit), etc.
How can I find out which is flash memory of the controller?
Thanks

Gigabit Ethernet and samba network bandwidth
Hi all,
I am notice strange behaviour of samba in our mixed
fastEthernet/gigabitEthernet enviroment.
First of all let me to describe our situation.
We have a samba server running debian unstable with 2.6.3 kernel
installed. Server has a gigabit copper connection (tg3 driver) to the
100/1000 Megabit switch (3COM 4228G). Client is a WinXP/Linux workstation
connected by ordinary 100 Megabit

Thanks for your script. It works fine.
I get what I expect.
THANK you all the way until it comes to an end.

ADSL-Bandwidth-Management-HOWTO
Hi,
I''ve read ADSL-Bandwidth-Management-HOWTO
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/ADSL-Bandwidth-Management-HOWTO/implementation.htm

and I''ve a doubt from script:

iptables -t mangle -A MYSHAPER-OUT -p udp -j MARK --set-mark 21
[ ... ]
That is a bug ?
I think that " DNS name resolution (small packets) " is better

Strategy for about 200 part-time users
I''ve been lurking for a while, trying to figure out this traffic
control stuff. We have 3 ADSL modems upstream, with 2, 2, and 1
megabit total bandwidth, 1/4 of it up, 3/4 down.
We also have about 200 workstations downstream, connected through
wifi. We are presently using tc to create about 200 buckets with HTB
and SFQ. It seems like this is too many buckets, since usually only

how to add burstable rate?

I managed to fix 128kbit for an IP address of 192.168.200.3 as below: -

tc class add dev eth3 parent 1: classid 1:1 cbq rate 128kbit allot 1500

Performance Issues Degradation After 6 Calls
I am using Asterisk and A2billing Calling Card Platform and after the 6th
call the quality starts to degrade. The way it set up is the user calls into
the system then dial out so I have 12 channels being used up but 6 active
calls. Here are my specs Asterisk SVN-branch-1.4-r79142 on a i686 running

Equal bandwidth configuration among host with dummynet
Hi all,
First of all, I have spent a lot of time reading up on
it.
Anyway, I live in a shared accomodation with 2
roommates and a landlord and we share a cable internet
connection. It is 2Mbit/400Kbit connection. Sometimes
when one of us is downloading a song through Kazaa or
a new Linux or FreeBSD iso, the bandwidth gets hogged
and other users can't get through.
I was trying to configure

QoS by customer or by service ?
I have a policy doubt.
Suppose next scenario:
I''ve a Internet link (1 Mb upload, and 1 Mb download).
That link is maneged with a Linux QoS box (HTB/eSFQ and so on).
Suppose that I''ve 50 customers sharing Internet Link, and
I must to assign 3 ranges of bandwidth for them.
Gold customers: 128 kbits
Silver customers: 64 kbits
brass customers: 32 kbits
Next, I create classes

MFC requests for 6.3
I would like to request that some useful work on networking be MFCed from
-CURRENT to -STABLE in time for the release of FreeBSD 6.3. In particular,
I'd like to see some of the Netgraph nodes which are new or which have seen
extensive development brought in -- ng_nat and ng_car in particular. Bringing
in the latest version of ng_nat would allow more flexible in-kernel NAT,

g729 and latency measures
Hi, we have set up a small project in a school the following way:
SITE_A(4 port analog to ip
g729)------ADSL_ISP1-------ISP2--------Asterisk-----PSTN
Site A has 1 Megabit of bandwith (up 512kilobit down 1 megabit)
The asterisk box gets internet service via a wireless antenna. 1 Mbit
of up/down bandwith
Comments:
So far, this means that I will need licenses for the 729.
asterisk only supports 20ms
