does the inbound traffic affect the outbound on 2 different interfaces
hey guys i am regulating the traffic to & fro by my network through a linux gateway , its behaving strange. i regulated Downlink to 2Mbps & UPlLINK to 500Kbps. both perform well when those are done independent i.e. one at a time but when i do both from a client system ..the downlink however continues at 2mbps but the uplink falls down to 100kbps? is something wrong with my script or

Traffic Shaping for DVB gateway
Hello all, I am providing broadband service through DVB circuit. I have 4KB uplink and 32KB downlink. I want to share 32KB downlink bandwidth among 192.168.0.0/24 (20 users in this subnet i.e 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.22)subnet where each user will get 2KB to 6KB bandwidth. And from 4KB uplink bandwidth each users will get only 1KB to 2KB bandwidth.

Hi, I have a Debian that is connected to Internet in eth0, and to a LAN in eth1. I wanted to control traffic with HTB, dividing it depending on what kind of traffic is (Mail, Application Server and others). Would it be good to use HTB qdisc in eth0 egress to control outgoing traffic and HTB qdisc in eth1 egress to control incoming traffic? Or the only way to control incoming traffic is with eth0

Download and upload independency
Hello everyone: As it is known, when you limit uplink bandwidth it usually gets downlink bandwidth to a lower value. I just want to know what is the optimal configuration for eth1 and imq0 according to some variables of tc(HTB), txqueuelen, mtu, etc. to make these packet flows less independent on an ethernet based network. Hi, I''m trying to make a shaper / firewall to improve sharing of bandwidth on a ADSL (3mbit down / ½ mbit up) Since the ADSL is very asymmetric, down is unimportant, I make a ingress rate limit shaper to ensure, all shaping is at the Shaper, and not on the Router or the ISP. The Idea is then to make one HTB hierarchy and have each client (IP) filtererd and put in a child-HTB queue.
