test not rolling back
For testing, I use:
self.use_transactional_fixtures = true
This should cause a ROLLBACK for each test case. If I run a single
file, foo_controller_test.rb, it works as expected. I see BEGIN and
ROLLBACK 8 times in the log files. But if I run:
rake test:functionals
I get 3 COMMITs, 196 BEGINS and 193 ROLLBACKs. The code in fixtures.rb
that deals with this is :

I''ve just started working through ''Agile'' chapter 12
''Testing''. I''ve followed the steps carefully, setting up a fixture and

Problem updating child row from parent model
I developped a web site with Ruby on Rails, but I get a problem during
the testing.
I have a parent table called "orders" and a child table called
"line_items".
I created some data for the test in the files "test/fixtures/orders.yml"
and "test/fixtures/line_items.yml".
In the file "test/unit/order_test.rb" I wrote some code to test the

Problems with Testing (Depot) demo app in Agile Rails book
I''ve encountered a perplexing problem whilst following along the demo
app in the "Agile Web Development with Rails" book. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Here is a brief time line of my tale of woe:-

decades - but new to both Ruby and Rails (so I apologise in advance if

db:fixtures:load order
I was trying to deal with foreign key issues related to order of
fixture loading when I came across this:
http://techpolesen.blogspot.com/2007/04/rails-fixture-tips.html
This got me looking deeper into rails and I noticed that
db:fixtures:load calls Fixtures.create_fixtures once for each fixture
file. However, Fixtures.create_fixtures is capable of taking multiple
files and also handle the

post() to other controller in functional test?
In a functional test, I want to call an action in another controller
(a login) before testing things in the current controller. As far as I
can tell from the extremely sparse documentation and the AWDR book,
this seems to be impossible. The post() functions takes an action
argument only, and that''s that. Surely I must be misunderstanding
things?

Salted hash login generator (verification problem?)
Hi all,
I hope someone can help with what is probably a simple newb
installation mistake on my part. I''m having a couple of problems with
the salted hash login generator. I installed it following the
quickstart guide, and the unit tests work like a charm. There are two
errors and a failure on the function tests, though; the verified field
seems to be involved in at least one of

How to store a Mechanize object in the database?
Hi,
I am trying to save a Mechanize object in database (using a Rails Model).
But the save operation throws a TypeError
Considering that "agent" is an instance of a Rails Model and "user" is
defined as a "text" type in the Model.
irb(main):039:0> agent.user = WWW::Mechanize.new

Can someone please point me in the direction of what I need to do to trace
the cause of this. Or what you would

dynamic condition for has_one and eager loading issue
Hi,
I ve defined the following relation in one of my models with a dynamic
where condition:
has_one :selection,
:foreign_key => ''object_id'',
:conditions => ''selection_type = 1 and account_id = #
{self.send(:account_id)}''
That works perfect, however when I try to eager load that relation I
am getting the following error when doing a

when I run a "create" action but neither my action or before filters

I suspect it has to do with marshalling objects in the session - maybe

habtm confusion
Hello friends!
I am trying to make a database that will have a group of people set to

obviously has multiple people. The people are senators at my
university. These are my current models:

Yet another "mongrel dying daily" case
I was hoping that someone can help me with this, which have been driving
me nuts -- I have had my mongrel cluster dying daily. And yes, I have
gone through the check list of possible causes:
I don''t do log rotating
I use active_record for session storage
I don''t use SQLite and Berkeley DB
The MySQL timeout is set to 3600
I am using only 10% of the memory.
I am using RedHat

Order of tests matters???
I have a problem with tests. I always thought that the order of tests doesn''t
matter because the fixtures are reloaded before every test method. However, I''ve
just discovered that this isn''t true.
This is a quote from the "Guide to testing the rails" howto:
"... if we had another test method, we wouldn’t have 10 users on the 2nd test
because they would
