Fw: wondershaper kills eth0 :(
Hi, When i do ''wshaper start'' the interface i have defined stops routing traffic for some reason. It resumes routing when i do ''wshaper stop''. I''m using debian stable (3.0 woody) with debian''s default 2.4.18-686 kernel. When I run the script I get no errors, and when I do a ''status'', everything looks correct. Can ANYONE

Fwd: Traffic Shaping on a Transparent Bridge not working!
I''m trying to shape traffic on a Devil-Linux box. This note was originally sent to their maillist, because the LARTC list appears to have been down for the past few days. My mailbox was just flooded with a half dozen or so confirmation requests in response to my repeated attempts to subscribe to this list. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: drew einhorn

Wondershaper - question
Hi, I have a question conercing wondershaper. I''m using the Clarkconnect linux distribution for my linux router and I tried to use wondershaper. On start up of wshaper, there are no errors or any other problems but I''m not sure if it''s running correctly. Only one qdisc / one class is used and when I start an uplink ftp transfer, my ping time is growing up to 1700ms - I

Bandwith thinking error
Hi, I found that I had some thinking error with the wshaper script. I assigned the bandwith of my DSL connection to it, but the machine where it runs is normally connected to the LAN with 100Mbit behind a separate Hardware-Router.Obviously, the complete connection of the machine was slowed down to 384k because I told it so.I guess, since wshaper takes only one card as argument, I can''t

Wondershaper stops limiting outbound traffic
I have wondershaper to limit my upload at 400kilobits (my line is 600kbps). I do a lot of torrent seeding and I dont want my pings killed when I''m uploading so I set low prority source ports as follows (by the way, I have bittornet to only use ports 6881-6910): NOPRIOPORTSRC="6881 6882 6883 6884 6885 6886 6887 6888 6889 6890 6891 6892 6893 6894 6895 6896 6897 6898 6899 6900 6901

tcng ingress policing question
Hi all I started playing with tcng to generate my tc rules, but I have some difficulty implementing my rules... The script below generates an error: # Device eth0 tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress beginner.tc:2: don''t know how to build meter for this The script is below, I changed the real IP numbers for XXs and YYs, since it doesn''t really matter what they are. eth0 is the

how flexible is ingress traffic policing to bandwidth limit?
[I sent this earlier but I guess the list is subscriber-only?] I just set up wondershaper, it has a simple filter on the downstream direction to limit the bandwidth usage: tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \ 0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 This is effective but is there any way to

wondershaper....
Hi, I am new to the Linux Advance Routing Project and to Policy Based Routing as implemented in Linux.... but I have been using Linux for 10 years so not _really_ a newbie.... Looking at the lartc.org website I came across the reference implementation of a traffic shaper... I also have Matt Marsh''s book on ''Policy Based Routing using Linux'' which covers traffic

ingress policing based on source address?
Hi all I''m new to this list, but not exactly to iproute stuff. I''d like to solve a specific problem with bandwidth coming from different external sources towards the internal network (also the other way around, but I figure that''s not so much a problem, since that is egress traffic shaping). The network looks like this: internet ------ ISP-------[shaping/router]

Wondershaper
Hi ! I´ve been using the wonderful wondershaper from chapter 15.8 of the LARTC Howto for some time. It´s really wonderful. Actually, I use the version from http://freshmeat.net/projects/wshaper/?topic_id=87 Now I tried to put some hosts to low priority, and it doesn´t work. The traffic is splitted equally between the noprio and the other hosts. Is this because I use ip masquerading, and all

wondershaper
Hi, I just installed wondershapper 1.1a on my ipcop firewall box. I have roadrunner cable with a ftp server setup. My download speed is 2mbit (I get 225 KBytes) and my upload is 384kbit (I send at 43 KBytes). What should the settings in wshaper? I can ping yahoo.com at 90msec with little traffic.....and at around 220msec with full upload traffic. Mark

How can I discern egress traffic than ingress traffic?
I have two interfaces, eth0 and eth1 but i can''t discern the egress traffic than ingress traffic. I need to apply htb qdisc in both directions, and I read that I need the IMQ patch to do this, because in ingress qdisc i can''t apply htb qdisc...but where is the ingress qdisc? affect the traffic that goes from eth0 to eth1 or is for the traffic that goes from eth1 to eth0?

Hullo :) I appear to be having a common problem, but the standard fix hasn''t worked for me :/ I''m using a 2.4.23 kernel, with QoS options thusly: # QoS and/or fair queueing # CONFIG_NET_SCHED=y # CONFIG_NET_SCH_CBQ is not set CONFIG_NET_SCH_HTB=m # CONFIG_NET_SCH_CSZ is not set CONFIG_NET_SCH_PRIO=m CONFIG_NET_SCH_RED=m CONFIG_NET_SCH_SFQ=m CONFIG_NET_SCH_TEQL=m

exclude internal network from wondershaper
I''m having a network inside of a dsl modem and I''m using wondershaper on the computers to be able to surf while bulk downloading. The problem is that also the internal traffic is shaped, which means the internal network is at 200kb/s, instead of 100Mb/s. Is there a way to exclude the internal adresses from the wondershaper rules, or is there any other good way to solve this?

Traffic Shaping using Shorewall and WonderShaper
Hi Guys, I''m asking this question again because I have exhausted resources for understanding how to get it to work. I''ve read the howto on getting traffic shaping to work (shorewall''s web site) as well as trying out wondershaper''s htb and cbq scripts. Somehow both does not seem to happen as I want it to. I''ve also read through the lartc
