need help trying to debug - included screenshot
I have attached a screen shot of the error I am running into. I am on page 138 of the Agile Web Development with Rails book by Pragmatic Programmers. I am developing the depot store, and I ran into an error, with hidden_div_if. When I remove that block of code, things to work fine, besides the fact the cart does not display on the site, but everything else functions correctly, so it is

Routing and default module
I would like to route all requests with the path "foo/:controller/:action" to a modulized controller like ''bar/#{controller}''. So "foo/bro/index" goes to Bar::BroController, "foo/baz/index" goes to Bar::BazController, etc. I''m stumped as to how to write a one-line route for this. What I want to do is something like map.connect

Ugly, garbled output from autotest

map.resources for controllers in a module
Hello- I''m giving RESTful development a shot. I''m running into some difficulty with controller I have grouped into modules. Specifically, I have a "admin" module with a "user" controller (created with "generate controller admin/user"). I managed to get map.resources wired up with this code: map.resources Admin::User, :path_prefix =>

Rails version.
Hi I have a rails version installed that was obtained from executing "apt-get install rails". (New installation of Ubuntu 7.0.x) I had problems configuring and using gems to install it. The ./configure script throw errors with missing ''zlib'' even though I made sure all the required libraries were installed. Anyway ''apt-get'' worked, but now I

Validating Uniqueness From Two Database Tables?
Well, I''m working on adding a new type of user (organization) to my application, using a different database table than the standard User table (in the end, I think it works out being easier to deal with than creating another column in the original User table for account type). However, I''m running into a user registration problem. I can register both types of users fine,

undefined method <name> for Service:Module
Hi all, We have a controller by name "ServiceController" (service_controller.rb) and everything was fine until we upgraded our rails. We recently upgraded Rails from Rails 1.1.6 to Rails 1.2.3. and after that when we try to invoke the "ServiceController" we are getting an error like this "undefined method find for Service:Module" I guess some namespace collision is

Getting the module name with ObjectSpace...
Hey :) I''m trying to create a method for making a sitemap dynamically. It works great for flat sites where you simply have your controllers in the app/controllers directory. In this case, I can extract the controller names like, @controllers ObjectSpace.subclasses_of(ActionController::Base).each do |obj| @controllers["#{obj.controller_name}"] = obj end However,

Help: A copy of ModelSecurity has been removed from the module tree but is still active!
Hi all, I''m posting this in the hope that someone who understands rails dependencies can shed some light. I''ve implemented a "ModelSecurity" module in the vein of Bruce Peren''s old ModelSecurity plugin (http://rubyforge.org/projects/model- security/). My ModelSecurity module lives in $RAILS_ROOT/lib. It is automatically included into ActiveRecord::Base by a

HOW TO: Easily output alternating item styles via metaprogramming
I always need to apply alternating item styles when outputting a collection, here''s what I''ve been using recently. In the app helper I define this method: def alternate(items, alt=false items.map{|i| i.class}.each { |k| k.class_eval {attr_accessor :alt}} items.each { |i| i.alt, alt = alt, !alt } end When I call the partial I wrap the collection with this method:

multiple ids on restful action
Hi, I know this question has come up before, but I couldn''t find a satisfying answer. Maybe I didn''t look well enough, so any pointers to old messages regarding this subject would be welcome too. I need some way to pass multiple ids to a resource. Something like /posts/13,14 If I do this I have to manually split the id on ","s in the action, and use post_path([post1,

Restful routes
Hi, I''m pretty new to the concept of restful routing and am struggling to find any rails 2 info that helps with what I''m looking for. I have a regular scaffold setup and the routes are setup as default map.resources :pages I would like to be able to use titles in the url rather than relying on the id. Eg localhost:3000/pages/sometitle instead of just localhost:3000/pages/1

rails truncating raw_post_data?
Has anyone ever run into any problems with rails truncating raw_post_data. My situation is this: I''m the developer for RubyAMF (wiki.rubyamf.org). Which is a flash remoting application server. With the rails plugin, it allows flash to talk to a controller and return AMF data.. So long story short, the flash player makes a request to a rails controller sending AMF binary format in the
