tc rules for Internet Radio
I am currently using the ultimate-tc script from http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.cookbook.ultimate-tc.html and I want to make sure that internet radio packets (mp3 streaming audio) will always get through no matter what. I have added some iptables commands like this: iptables -A OUTPUT -t mangle -p tcp --dport 8000 -j TOS --set-tos Minimize-Delay iptables -A OUTPUT -t mangle -p tcp --sport 8000 -j

Weird quirk with ingress policing
Hi, I notice that if two or more existing connections match an ingress policing filter, the input bandwidth does not get evenly divided up between the n connections. Kinda like litters of baby animals, where the stronger babies get more access to the mothers teats and grow up bigger and faster than their siblings. The only workaround that''s working for me is to set explicit ingress

Activate ingress policies on suse ent erpr ise serv er 9
Hi, The problem is this is my goal to use the policier and not the iptables. Because with the policier i think you can give more rules and restrictions to the incoming tcpip traffic. So I would prefer to use the policier and not the iptables. Thanks Gernot > GRAMES Gernot > __________________________________ > SIEMENS AG Austria > PSE SMC AI 21 > * Tel.: +43 (0) 5 1707

Trying to do some very simple ingress limiting, no success
Hi, I am trying to do some simple ingress limiting based on fwmark. I know the ability and sense to do INGRESS limiting is ehm... limited ;-) but still I want to try it. I tried several things. === 1 === tcq ingress handle ffff: tcf parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 1 fw police rate 12mbit burst 10k drop tcf parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 2 fw police rate 10mbit burst 10k drop

police rate doesn''t work ?
I would like to test police in ingress. I use kernel 2.4.20. I use this configuration: iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -s 10.31.12.2 -d 10.31.11.2 -p udp --dport 1001 -j MARK --set-mark 1 iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -s 10.31.12.2 -d 10.31.11.2 -p udp --dport 1002 -j MARK --set-mark 2 iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -s 10.31.12.2 -d 10.31.11.2 -p udp --dport 1003 -j

Fwd: police burst is mandatory?
Hi. I''m using the following filter from lartc "ultimate PPP" example: tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \ 0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 It works fine, but when I remove the "burst 10k", I receive the following error: "burst" requires "rate". Illegal "police"

"tc class htb"''s and "tc filter police"''s rate
Hi, What is the difference between the rate values you specify in "tc class ... htb ... rate ..." and in "tc filter ... police ... rate ..."? Thanks in advance. Help please with tc and iptables mark
Hello list members, Finaly I''m here after a week of trying to subscribe to this list... pfew... Anyway... I have a rather strange problem with tc. I am trying to police the ingress traffic into my network using the iptables MARK feature (in mangle table, PREROUTING) but it seems that tc filters ignore this marks and they don''t work at all for me. Let me explain a bit more in

TC in Wireless Environment
Hi, Has anyone used TC in a wireless environment, which is dynamic. I understand that the parameters for queuing are static and cannot be changed unless the queuing discipline is deleted and reloaded with different parameters. If anyone can share any experience, that would be helpful. Thanx. Azim. _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl

tc questions
Hi to all of you!!! I am a Computer Science student trying to do the pre-grade thesis. I am trying to develop a free software tool to help administrators to control the traffic. Right now this tool is based on tc and iptables. I am having some problems trying to understand tc and tc examples: - Why in almost every list of tc rules based on htb class, there is a "tc qdisc dev ... root ...

fw mark and policers on 2.6 not working ?
I just noticed that policers don''t seem to work with marks in 2.6 . Can anyone get - iptables -A PREROUTING -t mangle -p tcp -j MARK --set-mark 1 tc qdisc add dev eth0 handle ffff: ingress tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 handle 1 fw police rate 100kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 To work on a 2.6 - it''s OK on 2.4.26, version of tc used makes no

WonderShaper on LAN link kills to-host speed
I tried installing the WonderShaper on my internal link, mostly to get the SFQ installed. I set uplink and downlink to 100000 to match the link speed and changed the bandwidth on the cbq line to 100mbit. This killed transfer speed *to* the box, knocking it from 30-40 Mbps down to about 800 kbps. Commenting out just the ingress control restored the speed. What about the ingress policer would do

tcng ingress policing question
Hi all I started playing with tcng to generate my tc rules, but I have some difficulty implementing my rules... The script below generates an error: # Device eth0 tc qdisc add dev eth0 ingress beginner.tc:2: don''t know how to build meter for this The script is below, I changed the real IP numbers for XXs and YYs, since it doesn''t really matter what they are. eth0 is the

tc n00b
Hi everyone, I''m new to tc but I need to use it to set up shaping on a new NAT box. In short: Each user must have their upload limited to 128kbit and downlink limited to 256kbit. Global bandwidth to be limited to 100Mbit Interactive packets to have higher priority 200+ users, so need to match packets fast So far I have managed to get the download limits working. Incoming traffic
Hello, with the command : tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip u32 patch ip src 192.168.2.6police rate 10000kbit burst 10000kbit drop flowid :1 we can limit traffic coming from 192.168.2.6. I would like: for 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.4 limit to 10mbit for 192.168.1.3, 192.168.1.5 limit to 20mbit other ip would have no limit. Is it possible with tc ? Regards Olivier.

AW: AW: AW: AW: Activate ingress policies on suse enterpr ise serv er 9
Hi, So far, if have understand correctly: I route the incoming tcpip message of port 8099 directly to 8080 and then the ingress filter on port 8099 has nothing to do!? Yes I think on different interface on one machine (different Ports for different Request, with different restriction). What has exactly to be done to set the policier before Prerouting! Which kernel options, or also extra

Hi, Thanks for the fast response, .)Okay I tried your suggestion for my port 8099 and nothing happened: The tcp ip information goes from a firewall to my port 8099 and this port is than routed to the original 8080, I do that because I don`t want to dirturb my port 8080. But it seams the ingress filter doesn`t work on it!! iptables -L -t nat Chain PREROUTING (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt

RE: LARTC digest, Vol 1 #1558 - 9 msgs
Hi Roy, Strange. "kernel will resend then together with new ones" - this is interesting, since the firewall DOES know how to drop locally generated packets and the kernel doesn''t attempt to retry them. I am not an expert on this, but I think it might be interesting to check how the firewall does this. Another option would be to trick the kernel that the packet has been
