WonderShaper on LAN link kills to-host speed
I tried installing the WonderShaper on my internal link, mostly to get the SFQ installed. I set uplink and downlink to 100000 to match the link speed and changed the bandwidth on the cbq line to 100mbit. This killed transfer speed *to* the box, knocking it from 30-40 Mbps down to about 800 kbps. Commenting out just the ingress control restored the speed. What about the ingress policer would do

[ANNOUCE] iproute2 update
A new version of the iproute2 utilities is available to handle the new extensions for 2.6.7. * Based on the last known good version of iproute2 from Alexy * Included most of the vendor patches (except for the stupid ones). * Got rid of lots of the glibc workarounds, I intend this to build and run on 2.6 (and 2.4) only. * Fixed some parsing and formatting bugs. * Added gigabit as a rate.

NAT & tc filter addresses
Is there a flow diagram as to where tc actions take place with respect to NAT and other iptables functions on a multihomed box (private & public NICs) ? Are tc filter rules consulted before or after NATing? My real interest is in basic understanding first, and then solving a real problem second. Example: Firewall Public NIC 123.123.123.1 Firewall Private NIC 192.168.168.1 Dedicated Video

Wondershaper
Hi ! I´ve been using the wonderful wondershaper from chapter 15.8 of the LARTC Howto for some time. It´s really wonderful. Actually, I use the version from http://freshmeat.net/projects/wshaper/?topic_id=87 Now I tried to put some hosts to low priority, and it doesn´t work. The traffic is splitted equally between the noprio and the other hosts. Is this because I use ip masquerading, and all

Shaping Device Aliases
Hi. I understand that device aliases (e.g. eth2:3) are not shapeable. Does anybody know if this functionality is planned in the future? Anyway, for the time being the only option that seems to leave is to fwmark packets differently for each device alias and then shape based on that. Is it possible to set multiple marks on the packets? Alternatively, is it possible to check for a specific

CBQ_bandwidth
Hi Stef, Reffering to page < http://www.docum.org/stef.coene/qos/faq/cache/7.html > I found a para as follows, " CBQ is not always as accurate as it should be. See docum.org on the test page for some tests with bounded classes. The algorithm used by cbq is very "link sensitive". It calculates the link idle time and for that it needs the real link bandwidth, average

sum of child rates exceeds parent rate
Hi, i have created a parent class with 45Meg rate/ceiling Note : The actual traffic flowing via that pc is around 6Meg to 15Meg I assume the problem will come only when the traffic is more than 45Meg. Now if i create child classes whose sum of rates crosses more than 45Meg ? 1.How that tc behaves. 2.Will this affect browsing. Pls let me know this details Regards Jayesh

Ingress Shaping using IMQ
Hi Guys, Here is a question that is probably of concern to many of us. I am under pressure to provide some solution for ingress traffic shaping. What my customer demands is to divide the downstream (ingress) of an ADSL lines to two classes of traffic - important traffic and non important downloads. He has a very reasonable requirement: he wants a guarantee of at least 1000kbps at all times for
