Does ActiveRecord have support for "Boolean" columns?
Hey all -- I''ve been using enumerable char(1)''s with ''y'' and ''n'' values for my Boolean columns in Rails, but it strikes me there should be a better way. How do you setup columns that represent true/false-ness in your schemas on Rails? Wondering what kind of standard approaches there are other than me writing something like class MyEntity

tinyint(1) and boolean
So i had a boolean attribute in my model which gets interpreted to tinyint(1) in mysql by rails migrations. Now tinyint(1) accepts a range in mysql and i want to change my boolean attribute to an attribute which can accept 3 values(0,1,2). I made the change to the view and when i post the form selecting the selecting the value ''2'', it still gets saved as a ''0''.

Boolean quoting, postgresql
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/1117 I''ve attached a patch to ticket 1117 which fixes it so that booleans are escaped as booleans, not integers. Specifically, this situation will now work find_all(["send_date=? and sent=?", Date.today, false]) Which matches peoples expectations, but it causes some problems with the postgresql unit tests. Specifically, the use of

1 or true in TINYINT(1) column?
Hello, there is a table that has a column TINYINT(1) called status. Through mysql console I see its value as 1 (when is true) but if I do this in Rails console: Mytable.status => true give me "true" rather "1". How could I change 1 to true using some method? Or true to 1? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are

datatype problem when using ActiveRecord with Oracle
Hey, I have connected to the oracle db using ActiveRecord and am trying to retrieve tuples. I have one attribute that has datatype ''number(1)''. I found that ActiveRecord maps this attribute to boolean. So it gets a class of either FalseClass or TrueClass. I tried to find the source of the problem and I found oracle_adapter.rb (http://

Problem with ActiveRecord, create, save, and Oracle adapter?
Hi all, Ruby 1.8.4 Rails 1.1 OCI8 0.1.14 I think I''m hitting an issue with ActiveRecord::Base#save and the Oracle adapter. Line 158 in the schedules_controller.rb file is simply: 158: if @schedule.save 159: flash[:notice] = ''Schedule was successfully created.'' 160: redirect_to :action => ''list'' 161: else 162: render :action =>

oracle adapter + activerecord sessions do not work
Anyone know what''s up with the activerecord session store when using the oracle adapter in Rails 2.0.2 ? I can set a session variable and can then see it''s actually set using the debugger, but after the request completes the session is empty (the @data member is nil). The session_id is staying the same and the updated_at field is being updated but nothing I put in a session

Converting column of strings to boolean
Hi I'm trying to convert a column of strings (nominal types) to a set of boolean / binary / logical values. For example, in the column there is red, blue, green and yellow. There are 100 rows and each has a colour. I want to convert the column to 4 columns: red, blue, green,yellow and then either 1 or 0 put in the relevant row. Thanks -- View this message in context:

TypeError : transport.responseText has no properties
Hello all, I''m using prototype in conjunction with Extjs to build out an Ajax- driven app. I''m noticing that occasionally there will be Ajax Requests that will occasionally not complete. After some investigation, I found that when I made a call to String#evalJSON, it would throw a TypeError with the following message : transport.responseText has no properties. When this

ActiveRecord::ConnectionAdapters::Column value_to_boolean(value) does not return a boolean value.
value_to_boolean(value), does not always return a boolean value, only when true. 150: def value_to_boolean(value) 151: if value.is_a?(String) && value.blank? 152: nil 153: else 154: TRUE_VALUES.include?(value) 155: end 156: end If value is contained in TRUE_VALUES then it returns true(TrueClass). ActiveRecord Oracle and nvarchar2 or nclob datatype
Hi, I ve got oracle database which exists prior to my rails app... :-( I ve got trouble when I am updating/inserting records of a table which includes nvarchar2 attributes. These have a specific maximum length. I often get an error Value too long for column when doing my inserts/ updates, but in fact that is not the case. I ve taken a look at the generated sql statements.... As far as I know

Why is model.matrix creating 2 columns for boolean?
I have a data frame "reading" that includes a logical variable "OLT" along with response variable "Reading" and predictor "True" (BOTH are numeric variables; it's "True" as in the true value). When I suppress the intercept, model.matrix gives me OLTTRUE and OLTFALSE columns. Why? Can I do anything to prevent it? > r <-

Float -> BigDecimal
So, I''m personally cool with this change (patch from #5454, applied in [4596]), and I''ll make it work for Oracle tomorrow. But just wondering if folks considered the performance impact of the change? From a simple test it seems that BigDecimal math is about twice as slow as using Floats.

DRY? Converting Boolean to Yes/No
I have a database column given as: t.column :change_address, :boolean The user interacts with this using a checkbox, but wants confirmations to read: Change address: Yes In an isolated case something like: @obj.change_address ? ''Yes'' : ''No'' Would work fine but this is peppered throughout scads of forms and boolean fields. The first step I took at DRYing

How to enhance the query performance for large boolean attribute
Hi all, I am a new user to Xapian, and now we met such problem. In our case, a document has many attributes which is boolean value, for example( A, B, C ) , and our search query will use certain filter logic ( A == true and B == false ..) to combine with other search logic. We use MatchDecider to implement the filter logic, and now we met some performance problem, because our self-defined

choosing between probabilistic and boolean prefixes for terms
Hi all, public-inbox allows searching for git blob names (e.g. "badc0ffee") in patches. Initially, I chose to use add_prefix for probabilistic terms, since I assumed it could be a superset of what boolean searching offered. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case because stemming is interfering. So switching to boolean filtering seems to work; and it is fine for mechanical
