samba4 + drbd + ctdb + failover
Hi We've got drbd going between 2 nodes:) ATM there is un-partitioned space on each node but (we think) they are syncing OK. It looks as though it has synced the whole partition (2GB) from the primary node 1 to the other node: node 1 smb1:/home/steve # cat /proc/drbd version: 8.4.4 (api:1/proto:86-101) GIT-hash: 3c1f46cb19993f98b22fdf7e18958c21ad75176d build by SuSE Build Service 1:

load balancing and failover
Hi, A friend of mine has 2 lines of 512kbps terminated in two Linux boxes. He now want to remove those 2 boxes and have some device which will loadbalance the two ISPs and also have a failover arrangement. But he has agreed to give me a chance to do it on Linux for my own satisfication. Is this easy to do with lartc? How do I go about it exactly? I have very less time to do it since his

Dead Gateway Detection with PPPoE
Gentlefolk, First, many thanks to EVERYONE that tries so hard to make this advanced routing stuff useful to the "...rest of us"! You all rock! I have been prowling the archives of this list for an answer to my problem, and have seen some close situations, but no joy. Yet. I''ve got a relatively simple setup I''m trying to get working: we''ve got a

DGD patch not detecting dead gateway
Hello all! I applied http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/routes-2.6.8-10.diff patch to kernel 2.6.8.1 and it works fine, or almost fine. It does the load balancing well, but when one link is dropped it continues to try it. At the end of http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt it is said to ping gateway 1 and gateway 2, for the kernel to know if that route is working, but since my linux is connected to the links

failover works - but balancing does not
here''s the setup (two dsl - same provider) +-----> link1 LAN----- linux box --| |----------internet +-----> link2 the setup is ok in terms of the failover requirement. the other link takes over when one is down. however, there is a very noticeable lag when both lines are up. i''ve tried changing

Default Profiles
I'm currently test WinXP and Win2K against Samba 2.2.6. While I've got profiles working, I havn't as yet got the workstation to retrieve default profiles from the server. Is this possible under Samba, and if so how. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards Benjamin Hutton Systems Administrator Bunbury Catholic College

hoi, the machine is running on debian 3 woody, using samba 3.08 from backports.org. we are using a w2k-domain (ads). i need to mount a share on a windows-server. so i do this: mount -t smbfs -o username=xxx //def00shh/data /opt/lampp/ExNet/dinfo/data and samba answers: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //def00shh/datascan, or too many mounted file systems in log.smbd

Billing Fun - anybody know where to get a NPA/NXX db?
Hello; I've been playing with a nifty Open Source java based report writer called Datavision (datavision.sourceforge.net) and I've managed to write enough logic to calculate phone bills at different rates from the MySQL cdr's. (cdr_addon_mysql) Eventually I want to have sets of rate structures for each user of the system - so I can bill client A at 3 cents a minute and client B at 2

multiple uplinks works on linux router but not on clients
Hello, I''m trying to achieve the following. 2 ISP''s and 1 LAN with failover. So, when 1 internet connection fails the other need to take over. I''m aware of the restrictions. The current sessions are lost. I did this before, one and a half year ago or something. But at that router wasn''t failover. Now i''ve read the nano howto and followed it.

multipath failover
I got a chance to play a bit with new device-mapper-multipath. Unless I missed something obvios, docs seems to still be in the making. Could somebody point me to some docs for /etc/multipath.conf file? Couple of questions (I have very limited time I'll have access to hardware, sorry if I'm asking some obvious stuff). I managed to get things working by typing "multipath" from

2-3 uplinks, nat and failover...is it possible?
Hello, I am trying something crazy here. I have gone through the old archives, lartc.org and lot''s of documentation, but still something is wrong. Here is the situation; The server is Fedora core 2 running kernel 2.6.5 I have 2 uplinks to two different ISP''s. (It will be 3-4 in the future). These ISP''s should serve the bandwith to local clients with multiple subnets.

Amazing, great protocol IAX
Hi; I've just had a couple of discoveries in the learning process that are really making me impressed with this software. 1) IAX transfer - I'm running Asterisk boxes A, B, and C. B is in the middle and has a dialplan that points to extensions on C. When a client on A in the proper context on B tries dialling a client of C, B is smart enough to release itself somehow from playing

Continuous pings going through a full DROP policy
For a same configuration in which the default policy is drop and only one connection is accepted in rules, continuous pinging to devices will stop squarely in 4.0.15 as soon as a very basic firewall is enabled whereas in 4.4.26.1, pinging will still continue after the firewall is enabled. All tests are done with proper reboot of the unit3 where the firewall is applied: unit1 <---> eth4

Error when creating a new worker -- "Text is not a module - (TypeError)"
Hello everyone, I''m stuck with this very obscure error whenever I try to create a new worker. My worker is a subclass of BackgrounDRb::Worker::RailsBase, and if you follow the stack trace below, you can tell that the error occurs while trying to load Rails. There is no problem starting up the server, by the way. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I didn''t have

IAX2 crash course wanted
Hello; I'm curious where I can find a good document describing how to weave together some servers in different places. Trying to keep things as simple as possible here, I don't understand how to get 2 way calling going on between clients connected to separate servers. First, I have 3 asterisk servers running. One is my firewall here in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have two others in

nano syntax highlighting for R
Nano is Free Software and a nice intro text editor. It also starts up very quickly and has good syntax highlighting functionality, so it makes a nice file viewer. The syntax highlighting is configured in the ~/.nanorc file. See the attached code and screenshot. I was looking for good nano syntax highlighting code for R when I found by Stephen Haptonstahl's code here:

proposal TipsAndTricks/EditorDefaultNano
On my systems, I set nano to be the default editor. Is this something that can be done with some sort of configuration script? I don't find anything like system-switch-mail for editors. I do it in my kickstart files, but it can easily be done from a command line. Since nano is only useful to people using the command line, I think it completely appropriate... Is a document describing
