I have used the plugins (file_column, fleximage) which both use rmagic and gave me problems (never got fleximage to work) Thanks in advance - K --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails:

file_column imagemagick strangeness
Hi, I''m using the basic magick features of file_column, and while files are uploading fine without the magick options, as soon as I do something like :magick => { :size => "400x600" } I get an ''invalid file'' error. Further investigation reveals that the file is in fact invalid because something somewhere is truncating the file path:

Problem in the path for executables...
Hi, I have a windows executable which I am trying to run in Linux using wine. When I execute the command : wine {ABSOLUTE_PATH}/file1.exe, file1.exe runs many other executables internally, like file2.exe, file3.exe and file4.exe. Now when file1.exe is trying to run the other executables, it is not able to get the path of the executables. I have the "PATH" enironment variable set

Best way to upload an image and make a thumbnail
Hi, which is the best way to upload an image, keep that and also make a thumbnail? The images should not be stored in the database, but as normal image files in a specific directory. I think that for the thumbnail i should use rmagick, but for the upload ? (something which work with and without javascript, in every browser) Thanks :) -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Rmagick not handling GIF files properly...
Tracked down the source of my problem... It seems that Rmagick isn''t properly cropping/resizing GIF or PNG images when uploaded via file_column. I can upload JPG files just fine. Originally I had installed ImageMagick via Debian''s apt-get and built the rmagick gem using "gem install rmagick". This wasn''t working so I uninstalled ImageMagick and tried to

Frustrating "require" problems with RMagick
I am using RMagick in my app and am having problems in deployment. The deployment machine (Fedora Core 5) can''t find RMagick unless I change the "require" syntax from that used on the dev machine (OS X). And the dev machine doesn''t like the syntax that works on the deployment server! To wit: [OS X] $ script/console Loading development environment. >> require_gem

Image manipulation/resizing server-side?
I''d like to implement a system in a Rails app where I allow the user to upload an image file, and then the app takes that image and manipulates it, saving a thumbnail, small, and original size version of the file to the server. How would I go about doing that? Thanks, Jeff -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
