The DB column ''thumbnail'' is always NULL

I had the problem that attachment_fu didn''t make a thumbnail, but
everything else worked. I read this post
http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/104213 and added a parent_id column. now
I get the following error when I trie to add a photo:

Attachment_fu ImageScience FreeImage thumbnail quality
I''ve tried migrating acts_as_attachment to attachment_fu (just to see
if I could replace RMagick with ImageScience+FreeImage), but the
quality of the thumbnails is just horrendous, blurred beyond
recognition (downscaling a 1280x1024 to a few considerably smaller
thumbnails).
Changing attachment_fu to use RMagick again and the thumbnails were
crispy sharp again.
I was wondering

attachment_fu - propagating attributes to thumbnails
I have a model using attachment_fu (via has_attachment) and I''m
creating thumbnails for the attached images. I have an extra field
''foo'' that I''m validating on create with validates_presence_of :foo.
One problem arises when I upload an image:
The ''foo'' is not propogating down to the thumbnails. What should I
put in my model to grab the

I followed the instructions on Mike Clark''s weblog and everything
works perfectly except the thumbnail column in my DB is alwas NULL.
I''m using S3 as my storage system. Anyone else having this issue with

Cropping images with RMagick after uploading with acts_as_attachment
Hi,
I''m using acts_as_attachment to create thumbnails in a filesystem (no
problem there), but I''m having a rough time figuring out how modify
the image to crop it, and then put it back into the filesystem.
I think that I can pull the image OK and modify the Image OK with
RMagick.
So really I just need a pointer on putting it back into the filesystem
as a modified thumbnail,

attachment_fu Not Resizing
Hello,
Recently attachment_fu stopped resizing images for me. I''m puzzled
because before today it was resizing them and I don''t know what''s
changed. Here''s my code:
class Product < ActiveRecord::Base
has_attachment :content_type => :image,
:storage => :file_system,
:max_size => 18.megabytes,

Fleximage get a resized thumbnail
I am using for the first time the Fleximage plugin... good, I can upload
and resize images on the fly before storing them.. User has-one Image
I need to get a very small thumbnail to be stored directly into a
tinyblob field of the user record... ,
I know Fleximage is able to produce thumbnails, but regarding
performance I''d prefer to store the thumbnail direcly into the user
record...

Dynamically setting the image directory used by attachment_fu
It took me a while to figure this out and I don''t see any wiki pages
for attachment_fu so I figure I would just post this here.
I didn''t like the way attachment_fu by default creates directories
under a given directory for a specific class e.g.
item_image/1/img_1.jpg
item_image/1/img_1_thumb.jpg
item_image/2/img_2.jpg
item_image/2/img_2_thumb.jpg
item_image/3/img_3.jpg

hand writing sql for eager loading of thumbnails
Can anyone point me to a resource for hand coding some sql so I can create my
own for the following models:
I''m using single table inheritance to store related objects eg:
Thumbnail < Image < File :: ActiveRecord:Base
Image
has_many thumbnails
Thumbnail
has_one image
When I come to list thumbnails I''d like to be able to:
1. List all images relating to a product

Thumbnail plugin
Hi,
With some help from Quinn_Storm, iXce, maniac103, mikedee and
KristianLy :), I've managed to modify switcher.c and make a new plugin:
thumbnail.
The plugin shows thumbnails of windows when cursor is moved over a task
button in taskbar.

attachment_fu attributes in db
I''m using file_column for upload images.

create_table :mugshots do |t|
t.column :parent_id, :integer
t.column :content_type, :string
t.column :filename, :string

Prevent indexing depending on variable
Hi guys, I''m using attachment_fu on my site to allow users to upload
pictrues. Pictures can be set to only allow friends to view them.
The problem I''m having is ferret is indexing the images along with their
thumbnails which means I end up with a lot of broken images in the
search. Also it''s indexing images whose privacy is set to 1 (friends
only).
How could I go about

file_column and Thumbnails
I see that the SVN version of the excellent file_column plug-in can create
thumbnails using the url_for_image_column helper.
This uses Rmagick to create the thumbnail... Quick question...
Let''s say the file is a TIFF image - can the helper create a JPG version of
the thumbnail for display in the browser?
Curious if the plug-in can handle that transform with some creative use of

saving the user id for thumbnails using attachment_fu
I am using attachment_fu to create thumbnails, and it is working
great. However, I am have a view with all my users thumbnails
displayed and am trying to make it so when you click on a thumbnail of
their avatar, it shows that users profile. In order to accomplish
this I have saved a user_id identifier for each avatar, but the
problem is that attachment_fu only saves this user_id for the main

link Explorer Shell extensions to Gnome thumbnailer
Programs with special uncommon file formats (not jpg) often register a shell extension in Explorer that offers thumbnails for these files (since the files otherwise wouldn't have previews).
When I trigger in a Wine application (eg. SketchUp) the File Open dialog, I can see previews of the files (skp files) in the preview panel. This means the shell extension does work in Wine. The Shell
