bad move? - complex form with *many* observe_field's
I have a pretty complex form with many text fields and a number of
selects. We let the user add multiple types of associated objects to
the parent object and to edit the values for those associated objs, so
the form can have something like the following number of fields on the
page:
9 text fields + 3 selects + a*(1 text + 1 select) + b*(1 text + 1
select) + c*(1 text + 1 select) + d*(1 text +

Ajax and IE6 - is there some sort of "trick"?
Hi,
I''ve got some Ajax stuff that shows more or less of a complex form based
on a radio button selection. A "radio_handler" controller action is the
action for a form handler. Some seemingly simple "replace_html" fires
as a result of different radio buttons being chosen (which should then
show more or less of the form).
This all works just great on Mac Safari and

Ajax in Rails
Hi All,
New to the group, and new to learning rails.
I''m having some trouble, i''ve done a few tutorials on creating some
small apps with rails and am now starting to play around myself.
I''ve been trying to create a simple form which when a user enters any
data that data is displayed as a preview elsewhere on the page
instantly, just like when creating an advert with

newbie question regarding basic AJAX form verification
Hi,
I''m confused about how form verification with AJAX works. Let''s say I have a
''new.rhtml'' view that contains a form with two fields, and the form action is
''create''. Let''s assume that I also want to do some type of data validation on
one of the two fields via AJAX before I submit the form. But since I''ve

beginners question
hi group,
I am making a little rails app to experiment with rails. It consists
of one model, item, that represents an item on a todo list.
A todo item has a description, a state (finished or not) and a due
date.
After changing the scaffold screens a bit, I wanted to be able to
have no due date. I tried to do this by making a radio button; if ''no
date'' is selected, the date

Multiple Paramters and observe_field :with
Hi All:
I have searched high and low with no success. Does anyone know of a way
to pass the values of more than one form field through the :with
parameter of observe_field?
Basically I have two fields on the form with number values. When the
user changes the value of one I would like to send the values of both
fields to the controller for calculations and return the result to the
user on

Using RJS templates with observe_form
Hi there,
I''ve been checking out RJS templates, and have been trying to use them
with the observe_form helper.
However, the form values are no longer being passed in the params (as
soon as I point the action to the non-rjs and add the ''update'' clause
everything is working again). Is this expected?
Cheers,
Dave

accessing multiple observe_field from one callback
I have a form that has 4 text_field entries, each one with an
observer_field and i want to access the data that is currently inserted
on every field from the :update method for each field. i tried using
instance variables but it appears that each text_field creates an
instance of the searchcontroller for its own.
I also tried using the :with => "something" on the definition of the

Short version:
I have a radio_button group of two. If one is clicked another pair of
radio buttons is added, if the other is clicked it is removed.
observe_form does not work for elements added after initial page load.

observe_field with dynamic forms
I have a form where I dynamically add form elements based on user input.
An example is that when a user selects a "server" from a select box I
add (via AJAX calls back to server) a "type" select box pre-populated
with valid choices for that server. I do this by using observe_field on
the "server" field and update a div on the page with the new "type"
