htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?!
I''m getting the following error/warning at some point in my config script, and I''m not sure which class it is referring to. htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?! I [think I] understand that htb is a non-work-conserving qdisc, and I [think I] have configured things so that every htb qdisc I instantiate limits the bandwidth, so I don''t understand why this

RE: the "cisco vs. Linux" thread
FYI this topic has been covered on the Zebra and Quagga lists - hardware processors, memory, NICs, etc - software OS (Linux, *BSD), drivers, etc I''ve been running a couple of Linux routers for about 2 years now, I''m using them as core routers so I bought a couple of rackmount "server" boxes with redundant PSUs and h/w RAID (1) for hotswap disks. Problem with multiple N/W cards
Hi, I am trying to set up a linux box with 5 N/W cards of which one is 10/100/1000T and the others are 10/100T. I connected all the cards and turned on the machine. I wanted to force eth0 to be the 1000T cards but the cards get allotted eth0 to eth4 randomly. Is there some way wherein I can force my 1000T card to be eth0. Also I want to turn off auto negotation & flow control on the 1000T

tutorial for Julian Anastasov''s patches
I''m sure that I had found (and printed out ...) a really good tutorial that explain how to use Julian Anastasov''s routing patch, but I can''t seem to find it now. Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
I managed to do migration using "classicupgrade". Doing tests with debian buster 2:4.9.4+dfsg-4. For the moment using samba internal dns and sub-domain of ad.advocap.org. Had issue forwarding dns if I used main domain. When it comes to real production will use bind that I understand better but don't want to mess with my other dns servers now. Had a w10 box join samba4 ad

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
I'm open to alternatives but need to be up and running 24/7 on the linux side. My boss hates windows more than I do and will likely be looking for a new job if I use windows to administer the the linux side. We only use windows if there is no other way do do something. Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
Christian Thanks for the information. Also thanks to mj. That's sounds promising How did you migrate your data? Did you need to add any schema to samba4 ad? Were in 5 cities and some of the Internet is not 100% reliable. Will need samba4 in each office to make sure they can log in even if the Internet is down. How reliable is the the ad syncing? Does it need a lot of bandwidth? One of the

Migration to samba4 ad and sync to openldap.
We are currently running samba3 nt4 domain controllers using smb-ldap-tools. We want to convert to samba4 ad so we can run new versions of windows server. I know of: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Migrating_a_Samba_NT4_Domain_to_Samba_AD_(Classic_Upgrade) But that would break us by moving all ldap to the ad ldap. We have lot's of stuff in ldap. Currently administer using ldap account

Routing for multiple uplinks/providers problem.
Been running this for quite a while and noticed that have intermittent problems getting out. Find that if I ping the same site from 2 computers it may work on one and fail on the other. Also was surprised that some time they are going out different interfaces at the same time. Seems to work all the time from the firewall. Running 2.6.10 kernel with the multipath routing patches on a debian

clonezilla and xen problem.
In the past I have used clonzilla under xen to backup windows domains. I just tried it and it will not work. this is xen 4.1.2 and clonzilla-live 1.2.10-14 the disk line is: disk = [ ''phy:/dev/xvg0/nfdlts-c,hda,w'', ''file:/extra/isoimages/clonzilla.iso,hdc:cdrom,r'' ] It boots cd OK. The problem is devices are xvda not hda and clonzilla is not happy with

Migrating samba domain to new computer.
Should have read this first: http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2600749 Problem is I did it the wrong way on a few production systems. Odds are this is the second time I did it wrong. Running Debian Lenny using smbldap. It mostly works. Existing members of the domain are working OK. The first thing that got my attention is was not able to join a new xp workstation to

I''m running 2.6.7 + (julian''s multi-path patch) + IMQ (imq2+beta6) and I got the following on my console while doing some stress testing: KERNEL: assertion (tp->retrans_out == 0) failed at net/ipv4/tcp_input.c (1827) I don''t know what I would do to try to reproduce this condition; it only appeared once. tcp_input.c sounds deep enough to scare me off from looking

Slow windows network with gplpv driver.
Have 4 xen servers with windows domains. 2 work OK and 2 have xp domains with slow network performance. Doing most of the testing on a xen system that currently is not in production. Running xen 4.0 with 2.6.32 kernel from lenny backports. Have xp service pack3 freshly installed with no updates. Installed gplpv gplpv_XP_0.11.0.213.msi hdtack gives 60mb/sec which is good iperf gives ~15Mbits/sec

At the list archive page (http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/) there is an amazing message from the future: the year 2032 (q1).
