Something about diffserv!
Hello, As we know that there are four kinds of AF in diffserv architecture, and each kind has three different priorities. So, there are 12 different kinds of AF, is it right? Of course, each AF has its recommended DSCP value. Then, we know the AF is classified into four differnt classes, such as AF1, AF2, AF3, and AF4. But in a Diffserv domain, and in the core router, there will be a classifier

About Diffserv on linux!
Hello, This is a question about diffserv on linux. We know, there is a file sch_dsmark in linux source code. Now, i want to add something in the function dsmark_enqueue, for example, i want to add a function which can add a class and queue automately in dsmark_enqueue. That is, not using the command tc. After adding one, it works well, but when add the second one, there is a kernel panic:

About Diffserv on linux
Hello Merry Christmas, I want to know whether there are anyone who has been familiar with the source code in linux kernel about Diffserv, I think i have met lots of troubles. A simple problem: if we use the command ''tc add class'' to add a class, do you think it will be in a Interrupt enviroment? That is, if i want to add a class or qdisc using TC, are there any interrupts int

DiffServ Marking
I am trying to compare the behaviour of the Linux DiffServ implementation with that of Cisco, in DSCP remarking for traffic policing. As I understand it, the DSCP is marked at the egress interface (parent queue), based on the class that packets are in. I am looking at what happens at an inter-AS boundary. DSCP marked traffic coming into the Edge Router need to be policed and remarked: e.g. EF

Diffserv Research Network
Hi all, We are a group of research students and working on IPv6 QoS aware Grid. >From our set of experiments we have a particular case: Suppose a host A want to initiate traffic of some kind to host B, where A and B are connected by two intermediate routers wherein there can be other connections from the router. Our needs are as follows 1. We assume that routers are Diffserv routers and

A Question On CBQ
Hello, As it is well know that CBQ is the class based queue. But i am confused on the word "class" now, especially it is used in Diffserv. IMO, different classes should mean that there are different kinds of traffics, so the class should be difined by the parameters (such as bandwidth, priority..) the traffic wanted. That is, using cbq we can define different kinds of traffics which

How to DSMARK locally generated traffic and then apply AFHTB?
Hi fellow traffic-shapers, I am implementing a Diffserv CORE router using Linux kernel 2.4.18. I used this excellent website (http://www.opalsoft.net/qos/DS-38.htm) using AFHTB as a starting basis for my EGRESS diffserv implementation - and all works great so far!!! But my project has an additional requirement. There are services running locally on the router which are sending/receiving IP

traffic conditioning in mobile ad hoc network
Hello, since LARTC handbook "only discuss case of ip protocol" I want to ask something about the u32 classifier and possible options about other protocols (for example the position based routing protocol I use for the mobile ad hoc network :-) I need is to install a filter which selects packets by specific code points in the header for a DiffServ like approach. How to make LARTC

question about ingress police
Hi stef and all I want measure the policy perfomance for video traffic on mpls diffserv network. there are two different polices for video packet 1. Video packets that are marked that are over the limit are to be rejected at the edge router. 2. Video packets that are marked that are over the limit are to be downgraded as best effort and are sent through. Before video enter my mpls

QoS in Linux
Hello All, I am interested in QoS provided by Linux, when I looked into IP header I came accross ToS field, also while going more into detail about QoS I found that the QoS based on ToS is serviced thru DiffServ which in turn gives more priority to packets with higher value is ToS field, but I am not able to understand when we finally call dev->hard_start_xmit routine of underlying device

Using tcng to create a basic DiffServ router
Hi all, I am new-ish to Linux tcng and am struggling to find the resources and know how to implement what I need. What I have is a PC with 2 interfaces and a control program on that PC. In the control program I can specify an IP Flow with source and dest IP address, source and dest port, and a QoS class (1-5 which can be mapped to a DiffServ class) - in the control program I want to be able

Prioritzing SYNs and SYN-ACKs with Diffserv
Hi, I''m interested in prioritizing all packets with the SYN bit on, both with and without the ACK bit on (but specially the SYN ACKS). I am checking is the use of Diffserv. From a paper I read I understood that when Diffserv is on, all "Control Traffic", including TCP SYN-ACKs, gets by default into "band 0" of Diffserv, the highest priority out of 16 bands. If true,

hi, I am currently working on a project on implementation of diffserv testbed using tc utility from iproute2 package. i am struck in the dsmark qdisc which allows to mark the DSCP field in IP header at the first hop router. Once the packets are marked at the first hop , how to schedule them at the outgoing interface of the router. What i mean is after creating classes for each DS value, how to set

dsmark qdisc in tc(iproute2)
hi, i am currently working on a project on "design of diffserv testbed in linux". i am using tc utility of iproute2 for it. The qdisc dsmark used for marking the DS codepoint at the first hop router makes number of classes depending on the indices given in the command. But i am not clear how at the first hop router does scheduling takes place. what i mean is if i have two flows, whose

DSCP marking
Hi, I know that this question may NOT belong to this Mailing List, but nevertheless, I hope I will get some help :) After having worked with DiffServ on Linux, I want now to try marking IP-packets in their DSCP header under Windows OS (e.g. WinXP). If somebody knows some information, plz tell me, and u can e-mail me sunreflex4@hotmail.com Thanx in advance for ur understanding

PC1,PC2,PC3. hub hub PC1--------------------PC2-----------------------PC3 eth0 eth0,eth1 eth0 I want to work my configuration like diffserv. I am generating traffic from PC3 and sending it to PC1 via PC2(as a router)and from
