polymorphism with created_at and modified_at
Hi,
I was wondering what happens, if I use polymorphism in combination
with created_at and modified_at?
Lets say I have 3 models, which all have the attributes created_at and
modified_at, then how will they updated?
Will changes in the child affect the "modified_at" of the parent?
Will a "child.attribute_at()" yields the value of the child or the
parent?
Given the child,

Form to update two tables
Hello there,
this is probably a very simple problem but I''m stuck.
I''m following the Login generator tutorial from rubyonrails. It''s all
worked fine so far. But I want to add a bit more functionality so that
when a user signs up in addition to chosing a login name and password
they type in a company name which is added to a seperate table called
COMPANIES. The id

Major issues with ActiveRecord callbacks in BackgroundRb r324
Hi there
I''ve been running BackgroundRb in production for a few months now. Recently
we added encryption onto some of our ActiveRecord fields by hooking in the
before_save and after_save callbacks, like:
class MyCallback
def initialize(attr_names)
@attr_names = attr_names
end
def before_save(model)
@attr_names.each do |attr_name|
next if

sql functions in cru ( not d )
Hi,
I''m looking at ways to encrypt email addresses rather than storing
them directly in the database.
There are several ways that it could be done. I could make an
Encrypter class and use before_update, etc. Or I could set up an
updatable VIEW in mySql. (I guess triggers might be another
possibility.)
However, what I would really LIKE to do is use the handy AES_ENCRYPT

Correlation among correlation matrices cor() - Interpretation
Hello,
If I have two correlation matrices (e.g. one for each of two treatments) and
then perform cor() on those two correlation matrices is this third
correlation matrix interpreted as the correlation between the two
treatments?
In my sample below I would interpret that the treatments are 0.28
correlated. Is this correct?

rsync performance weirdness
hi,
i observe some weirdness in rsync file transfer i cannot explain.
i'm transferring data from 2 freenas storages to a linux vm with zfsonlinux.
"fnask" is older freenas with rsync 3.1.1 running in daemon mode,
freenas-bnkw is more recent with rsync 3.1.2, also daemon-mode.
on the linux vm where the data is being pulled from the 2 freenas boxes,

signif {base}: changes to scientific notation
PROBLEM
`signif' does change to scientic notation
at different levels depending on the number
of significant digits in the input.
This can generate tables where figures change
``irregularly'' from normal to scientific notation.
PROPOSAL
The change to the scientific notation should
be made only if the figure in scientific notation

R: polygon error?
It seems to me that you are using polygon in a wrong way.
What you probably need could be something like:
polygon(c(rev(t$z), t$z),
c(rep(0, nrow(t)), t$ht), col=2, border=NA)

lmer function
Does anyone know if the lmer function of lme4 works fine for unbalanced designs? I have the examination results of 1000 pupils on three subjects, one score every term. So, I have three scores for English (one for every term), three scores for maths etc. However, not everybody was examined in maths, not everybody was examined in English etc, but everybody was in effect examined on four subjects. Development version of R fails tests and is not installed
The only observation I can make is that the change to round() was made
in r77727 whereas your R-devel appears to be r77715 (so would not
exhibit the fixed behaviour). My guess is that there was a perpetual
installation failure after r77715 but that the test folder was still
retrieved and used.

I still can't build LLBrowse on my Debian5-i386 machine today,
The following is a full build console output.
I am using LLVM-2.8 release build, with needed wxWidgets and CMake.
Thank you

Development version of R fails tests and is not installed
G'day all,
I have daily scripts running to install the patched version of the
current R version and the development version of R on my linux box
(Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS).
The last development version that was successfully compiled and
installed was "R Under development (unstable) (2020-01-25 r77715)" on
27 January. Since then the script always fails as a regression test
seems to fail.
