Error loading fixtures with classes that set_table_name
Hi all,
I just hit a big wall involving a legacy database. I''ve got an active
record class called "School" that uses "set_table_name ''old_school''" to
map to a legacy database table:
class School < ActiveRecord::Base
set_table_name ''old_school''
end
It works great, until I''m testing and I want to use fixtures.

Fixtures and unit tests - no such file to load
Hello all,
I''m having some issues with my test fixtures and unit tests and am
hoping somebody has an idea about how to fix it.
Background:
I have a table in my legacy database called tp_approval_step.
For this table I have a fixture called tp_approval_step.yml
I have a model called ApprovalProcessStep that uses set_table_name
''tp_approval_step''
In my test file,

rspec and set_table_name?
Hi there
I have a Value class in my Rails app; however ''values'' is a reserved
word in MySQL so in my value.rb file, I''ve declared set_table_name as
''vals''.
However, in setting up my specs for this model, I''m hitting errors
that seem to be resulting from rspec not seeing the set_table_name
declaration in my model file.
For instance,

Fixture accessors broken for polymorphism, in need of redesign
Ticket 4052 (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4052) just came through
trac, which introduces the need for a better way to access fixtures. I
believe the basic problem is the same as 3935
(http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/3935) in that the accessor method
which is constructed by the fixture call can''t infer the class name
from the table name. The band-aid in 3935 was to allow you to

autoloading LoadError: Expected known_ip.rb to define KnownIp
Hello, i have a problem with autoloading model classes.
I have had similar problems before when a file''s name in Rails'' opinion
did not match with the name of the class defined inside, but eventually
everything worked, so i didn''t look into details.
This time the problem comes from running Unit Tests and does not want to
go away.
I have a model class KnownIP defined in

has_and_belongs_to_many on legacy DB
I am working with mapping ActiveRecord onto a legacy database. All is going
well (using set_table_name, set_primary_key, etc), but I can''t get my
many<=>many relationships to work.
My contrived example of the situation:
Student has_and_belongs_to_many Teachers. This is mapped via table
student2teacher where the foreign keys are studentId and teacherId. The
primary key in Student

join in legacy DB?
I''ve got a problem with some tables that don''t follow any RAILS
standards. how do I define the join in the model when all three tables
have wacky names?

set_table_name "tbl_CodeMgmt_Host"
set_primary_key "Id"
end
class Pool < ActiveRecord::Base
set_table_name "tbl_CodeMgmt_Pool"

Change to set_fixture_class
So, I sat down to use set_fixture_class, and it bombed on the first
thing I tried:
set_fixture_class :content_drafts => "Article::Draft"
I made a quick patch, and I''d appreciate a quick run through your
tests to make sure it doesn''t disturb anything:

As I was typing this, I realized that the string gives us no benefits.

Coloured output in rspec 1.1.4
Hello.
I have lost the coloured output in autotest after updating to rspec
v1.1.4
I was already using the edge version and was ok then, before the last
update.
Anyone knows something about this?
Thank you.

Ruby on Rails Tutorial Chapter 6 RSpec tests failing
Hello all:
I''m a RoR newbie who is currently following the Ruby on Rails

Downcasing Legacy Table Column Names
I''m looking for the simplest way to *automatically* downcase the
attribute names of Models mapped to legacy tables that use upper
case. eg:
class Workorder < ActiveRecord::Base
set_table_name "WORKORDER"
end
which has "NAME" as an attribute can use "name" as an attribute.
currently:
workorder = Workorder.find(1)
workorder.NAME # =>

Problem validating boolean
Hi
I''ve got a problem validating a boolean and I can''t see what the
problem is. Here''s my model:

validates_inclusion_of :term, :in => 1..600

activerecord multiple databases
So, I was looking for a setup that would allow me to easily query
multiple databases and not have to re-write my customer finder type
queries. Here is what I came up with and it seems to be working for
me in my very basic tests so I thought I''d share. Just posting it in
case this helps anyone else trying to do the same thing.
I''m using this with activerecord, but not rails, so

Legacy database problem
Hi
I am trying to use Ruby on Rails to work with an existing database. The
problem is that, all the table names begin with a captial letter (e.g.
Products). So I did the following changes
in environment.rb, I''ve added under # Include your application
configuration below
ActiveRecord::Base.pluralize_table_names = false
In class Product, I''ve added

set_table_name and fixtures
Hello, I''ve encountered a fixtures really frustrating bug : model, YAML
file and db table names must be the same because of the fixture library
ignoring the set_table_name provided in the model.
Is there anything to do ?
Thanks

Why has the --color gone from my life?
Hi all,
Running on OSX 10.5.3, Latest Rspec trunk, Rspec rails trunk, latest
autotest gem and rails 2.1
I''ve lost my colour output in autotest.
rake spec gives colour output, but autotest gives me black and white.
It was working a little bit before, I think I upgraded to the latest
versions of everything to get all the textmate snippets talking and being
friendly to one another again

Changes in specs for routes in rspec 1.1.99.x
Trying the next release of rspec, I have had to make changes in the
existing specs for routing.
I have written an script with sed that makes this automatically (two
files)

/route_for.*create/s/== \(["''].*["'']\)/== {:path => \1, :method =>
:post}/
