[LLVMdev] LLVM on Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11
Looks like I was a little too ambitious in getting version LLVM-2.5 to
build on Mac OS X Tiger which uses gcc 4.0.1. LLVM -2.2 built fine.
I did get the LLVM-2.5 tree to build but it was the gcc front-end part
of it that failed. If anyone has built the both parts of version 2.5
on Tiger please let me know.
Thanks,
Bijoy.

controller cant find my RMagick installation on OSX 10.4
I need to install RMagick as it is a required dependency for the
file_column plugin which I am trying to use.
I was completely baffled by the instructions on by the RMagick website
for installing RMagick on OSX.
However, I found these alternative instructions which come from the same
chap who provided the instructions for installing RoR on Tiger.

Launching rsync daemon via launchd on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger
Hi,
I have recently upgraded to Tiger and needed a way to launch the
rsync daemon on system-startup. Tiger includes the launchd which is
responsible for launching daemons. I have made my config file
available to download for anybody who is interested in doing the same:
http://www.designsolution.co.uk/resources/rsync/
Perhaps this may be added to the resources section of the rsync site?

[LLVMdev] LLVM on Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11
Hello,
I apologize if this has been covered before but has anyone
successfully built llvm on Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11)? I upgraded to
Xcode 2.4.1 and got the binaries for the llvm-gcc frontend and the
source for llvm. I built llvm but realized that the frontend binaries
required libiconv version 7.0.0. but the version on Tiger is 5.0.0.
Trying to build the frontend from source gives me a bunch

How to run Rcmdr in Mac Os X Tiger?
This question might been asked previously (I googled), but I can't find a
workable solution in the archives.
My question is: how to run Rcdmr in Mac Os X?

ZFS, iSCSI + Mac OS X Tiger (globalSAN iSCSI)
I have set up an iSCSI ZFS target that seems to connect properly from the
Microsoft Windows initiator in that I can see the volume in MMC Disk
Management.
When I shift over to Mac OS X Tiger with globalSAN iSCSI, I am able to set
up the Targets with the target name shown by `iscsitadm list target` and
when I actually connect or "Log On" I see that one connection exists on the

RMagick on OS X - HOW
Hello all.
I''m a seasoned system administrator and have no fear of building
source packages on a variety of platforms, but RMagick has, until
recently, evaded all of my attempts to building it on my PowerBook.
Someone else just mentioned that they had trouble with RMagick on
OS X (Intel, don''t really know if my advice will help) so I
decided to post a HOWTO to the list.

Fw: Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.2 SMB
Hi Guys,
Can anyone offer me any assistance at all with the query below.
Even perhaps if there is some "how to" somewhere to get Tiger pcs to join a domain.
I really need to get this problem solved, and I have searched and searched and haven't found anything yet.
Thanks!

Mac OSX Tiger 10.4.2 SMB
Hi Guys and girls,
I'm having exactly the same error as this person in the post below had.
Only differences is we are running Slackware 10.1 with Samba 3.0.14a, and
the Mac connecting is using 10.4.2
Does anyone know of a work around, or a solution to the problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

HOWTO: Install RMagick on OS X
Hello all fellow Mac OS X Railers.
I''m just setting up a new MacBook from scratch.
Everything has gone very easily, so I decide to attempt
to install RMagick from scratch once again, something
that I''ve wrestled with in the past, finally punting and
going with a DarwinPorts ImageMagick install then direct
gem install of RMagick.
Well, I had no problems and have achieved

rsync, mac OSX tiger, and UFS
Hi,
I'd like to make a "feature request" for users of rsync on Mac OSX
Tiger (10.4)
Given the current sorry state of backup tools on Mac OSX, the only
way I've found to reliably backup data from Mac OSX is to keep the data
on a UFS volume, and to then backup it up using *standard* rsync (no -E)
to a Unix file server. This way, all the the "apple double" are

problem installing packages with compiled-from-source R.app on Mac OS X - Tiger
Hello all,
This may be aimed for r-devel, but I encountered this as an R-user
and not an R-developer so I start here (having said that, please
direct me to R-devel if you think this is appropriate. I am not cross-
posting, as I believe this is bad netiquette).
I am a recent, but extremely happy R-user (especially after getting
my own copy of MASS 2002). My adventures started when I wanted

OS X 10.4.1 ( Tiger ) client borked
Appears Apple messed something up in 10.4,and 10.4.1.
Attempting to connect to a 3.0.14a server (debian unstable)
from an OS X client causes OS X Finder to hang, and puts
these errors in the samba server logs:
[2005/05/22 21:48:20, 0] rpc_parse/parse_prs.c:prs_mem_get(537)
prs_mem_get: reading data of size 2 would overrun buffer.

Samba, OS X Tiger 10.4 plain text password, username null-padded?
Our samba server is running Solaris 9 and Samba 3.0.2.a . For reasons
*outside the scope of this question* we are using plaintext passwords
and authenticating via our NFS server. (I know this isn't a great
idea, but that's not the question)
With Panther, plaintext passwords worked fine. Snooping, I see the
plain text password and username go through.
With Tiger, we first had to apply

Problem Installing RMagick with Instant Rails on Windows
I''m running Instant Rails 1.4 on Windows XP with SP2.
I have downloaded the Windows binary version of RMagick from the RubyForge
page.
Specifically, I have downloaded:
1.14.1 binary gem for Ruby 1.8.5 (fixed for RubyGems 0.9.4)
RMagick-1.14.1_IM-6.3.0-7-Q8-2.zip
I have removed any older versions of RMagick using:
gem uninstall RMagick
I have updated my version of rubygems.
