2.6.9-42.ELsmp kernel and 3ware 9550 tools
I have the latest kernel with the drivers for my 3ware 9550SX built in.
Where
can I find the tools and monitoring apps for this card? Are there rpms
hiding
somewhere, or do I need to build it from source?

build postfix rpm with mysql
hello list,
I'm trying to build a postfix rpm that has mysql support included.
I've found the line where I need to define mysql support but it seems
that I am being tripped up by some build dependencies:
[root at beta SPECS]# rpmbuild -ba postfix.spec
error: Failed build dependencies:
MySQL-shared is needed by postfix-2.9.1-1.rhel5.x86_64

denyhosts-like app for MySQLd?
Hi all,
?Is there any app like denyhosts[1] but intended for MySQLd service?
We have a mysql ports (3306) opened for remote connections, and
obviously the /var/db/mysql/machine_name.log is full of these kind of
entries:
...........
936012 Connect Access denied for user 'user'@'85.19.95.10' (using
password: YES)

contrib/redhat/openssh.spec question
I have a couple of questions regarding openssh.spec and the rpm that
gets generated from it. I am using 2.3.0p1
1. Why is openssl a prereq? openssh statically links to openssl during
build by default (rightfully so, you don't want your security library a
shared object if possible)
2. I don't understand the following line in the spec file during the
install step (it makes it not build for

Iptables front-end
Hi all,
?What iptables do you use to manage iptables? ?Or maybe not?
Simply curiosity, so I'm coming from openSUSE and in that distro there
is a YaST module front-end (YaST firewall).
TIA.

I don't see my messages
Hi all,
Recently I've suffered a problem with my SMTP service provider. It seems
the SMTP server allows open relay, so my account is lockdown by CentOS
list policy.
Because of that I desubscribe my last account and re-subscribe in CentOS
list with the present gmail account.
I can send any messages in the list, but the curious problem is I don't
see my own messages
????
I can see my

OT: bareos (F/OSS fork of bacula)
I'm trying to get this up and running, and have run into something that
isn't clear in the docs: volumes are part of pools, I get, but I see that
the limit to the number of volumes is 100. Is this a drop-dead
can't-go-beyond? If I have > 100 clients to back up, do they all go to one
volume, or to individual volumes?

Yum uses too much resources
Hi all,
When I do a simple string search with Yum (ex. yum search *hwinfo*) my
laptop suffers high slowness. If I open another shell-tab and execute
top command, it shows me an extensive use of hardware resources from Yum
(20-25% RAM and 70-85% CPU). If in the same time I'm using Firefox
browser the performance goes down too much and even it seems the box
it's freezed. The box become

mock and iaxmodem
I am trying to build an rpm package for iaxmodem-1.2.0. At the
moment I am still trying to get a working spec file put together. I
have managed to get an SRPM produced but the binary build from this
fails due to there being no install task in the Makefile.in provided
with the source.
I have found a spec file from opensuse that provides this in the
install portion:

Hi all,
I've installed CentOS 4.4 in a box which previously had dual boot (XP

I can run CentOS without problem but I can't boot XP SP2. When I try it

zip alternative?
Hi,
Recently I've got several errors in one of my backups systems. The
backup system uses basic tools: rsync, mysqldump, and zip and have
worked fine until a few days ago.
The zip command shows an error like this: size limit exceeded.
So I've found out an alernative : p7zip.
It seems to has all the needed features:
* available package (in Dag's repo)
* 64 bits for size

Virtual Machine Manager DNS resolver
Hi all,
I'm trying to install CentOS 5 as a domU in a CentOS5 dom0 system and I
use Virtual Machine Manager to do it.
I've dumped all CentOS5 CDs contents in /var/www/CentOS to make a local
http media source. It works fine in dom0 browser.
When I arrive in "Locating installation media[*]" step I point out to
http://localhost/CentOS (which is perfectly active and available)

VGA boot options in XEN kernel
Hi all,
I've got a new LCD 19" monitor. It's a good device, but I always work
into a shell environment, so the fonts size is too big for comfortable
activity.
I've tried to increase the resolution adding the vga=VALUE parameter in
kernel-xen line, but it seems not work.
Some useful info:

Linux horus 2.6.18-8.1.6.el5xen #1 SMP Thu Jun 14 18:01:24

Hi all,
I need to install an anti-rootkid in a lot of servers. I know that
there're several options: tripwire, aide, chkrootkit...
?What do you prefer?
Obviously, I have to define my needs:
- easy setup and configuration
- actively developed
