the list is back online
Hi everybody,
Sometime last week outpost.ds9a.nl''s disk filled up and mailman corrupted
one of its databases. It took quite some time to fix this, for which I
apologize.
But we''re back now!
For posterity, the log file reported:

Can the mailing list archive be searched?
It says the list has been "picked up" by google, but I can''t find any
reference to "lartc". A search on "traffic control" and "advanced routing"
returned these groups;
comp.os.linux.networking
fr.comp.os.linux.configuration
hun.lists.mlf.linux
comp.os.linux.security

RV: RV: LATENCY PROBLEMS
I thought of creating an htb class for each user, but as you said I haven''t
got enough bw to do soo.
Thats why my setup only has 5 classes with WRR queues so I get sure each
user doesnt affects the other users. On top of that I have an iplimit to a
maximum of 15 parallel connections per user.
So I get the following conclusions:
A) change link
B) upgrade to kernel 2.6 and use l7

[Fwd: up and down shaping based on IP]
Hello, i have a server (486sx and 16ram).
My pc is providing internet to 12 other computers. Ethernet cards are
realteks 8139 (drivers builtin to the kernel 2.6.8).
It gives me this error :
NETDEVICE WATCHDOG eth1 : ...timeout.
I checked in many places for solutions. Even wrote to this mailinglist.
But lately i recived information, that too much upload
may mix my adsl modem up. So..... my

RE: the "cisco vs. Linux" thread
FYI this topic has been covered on the Zebra and Quagga lists
- hardware processors, memory, NICs, etc
- software OS (Linux, *BSD), drivers, etc
I''ve been running a couple of Linux routers for about 2 years now, I''m
using
them as core routers so I bought a couple of rackmount "server" boxes
with
redundant PSUs and h/w RAID (1) for hotswap disks.

RE: ntpd
Hi Nitin,
First of all, you can verify that ntpd is responding on ingress with netcat
:
nc -u ingress 123 (udp connection on port 123)
also try a netstat -an on ingress to be sure that the port 123 is in listen
state...
I recently install ntpdate, and it has worked as a client and a local ntp
server immediatly.
Good Luck,

RE: HOW TO COMBINE 2 DSL LINES IN THE SAME COMPUTER
J,
What i meant is...like in Linux you make use of the two external
connections and collate them as mentioned in the document. Can you try
keeping the Linux box in front of the two windowze boxen and collate the
two LAN connections coming from them as mentioned in the HOWTO???.

Shaping the sum of in/out traffic (IMQ?)
Hello,
does anyone have a working solution for the shaping both incoming and
outgoing traffic in such way, that for a given class the sum of incoming
and outgoing traffic is specified?
My ISP does the same thing, it gives me just a line of a defined rate,
no matter the traffic direction (i.e. here is the line, the clock speed
is 1024kbps, do what you want).
I''m a litte bit familiar

Fw: Re:simple(?!?) source routing
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Thats where the problem starts. If I set ppp0 as
the
default gw the internet doesnt work anymore. This is how im doing it...
route del default
route add default gw 217.32.81.74 dev ppp0
if I put it back to ppp1...
route del default
route add default gw 217.32.68.73 dev ppp1
It works fine again. Whats up with that?
Cheers,
Chris
