ppp+vpn+htb
please, help, i have build vpn server (suse 9 + poptop), i have managed to implement tc htb in ip-up script, but every client has own ppp interface (ppp0, ppp1, ppp2...), and my idea is to share available bandwidth, not to limit connection, how to build root tc rule, when I have more then one interface?... please any one width experiance regards _______________________________________________

priority bands don't reduce interactive latency?
I run a small Linux webserver and NAT router from my cable modem at home. Whenever someone starts an http download, all other traffic from my LAN is starved. Bandwidth is not really an issue, but latency is particularly horrible -- pings that usually come back in 20ms can take up to 600ms while the web server is active! I set up QoS (netfilter+iproute2) on the NAT machine in an attempt to give

HTB traffic shaping + squid cache proxy
Hello! My system is: Internet ADSL(PPPoE) ---> ppp0 [LINUX server(router)] eth0 ---> LAN Server(router) is running on LINUX Slackware 8.1. I have recompiled a 2.4.22 kernel, enabled all QoS support in the kernel config, including HTB. My ADSL bandwidth is 256Kbit/s for download and 64Kbit/s for upload. I use the following HTB+IPTABLES configuration, because I want to reduce bandwith for

What is wrong here (continued...)?
Hi all, Here is a RRD graph ive just made of my packet shaping setup: http://www.overclockers.com.au/~mwp/temp/tc-1hour.png The app creating the P-25 traffic is bittorrent on the Linux box also doing the shaping. P-22 and P-23 is created by FTP transfers. Starts with bittorrent running. At 00:03, an FTP transfer is started on "cool.comp" (windows box). At 00:09, bittorrent is

Marking packets by mac addr using tc filter u32 match?
Hi Is there a way of marking packets by mac address instead of ip or ports using a "tc filter u32 match"? I read somewhere that I could use the offset -8 and -14 to grab the mac addresses but if I use anything lower than -8, for example -9, I get an error. I''m modifying the wondershaper script to cap the download speed by mac address. Any sugestions?

prerouting does not effect filtering
I try to shape traffic using HTB and mark packets within iptables using PREROUTING. But the filterrules seems to ignore the marks set with PREROUTING Only POSTROUTING marks are accepted. First my configuration I have a router connected to the internet via ADSL over interface ppp0. eth0 is a tunnel to ppp0 and eth1 serves the LAN. LAN is 192.168.57.0/24 on 10Mbit ppp0 is 80.126.16.44 on

Htb, imq and sfq traffic shaping
Hello, I wrote a simple traffic shaping script (below) that should have allowed me to shape my internet traffic a bit (ppp0 - adsl 128kbit/64kbit; local interface eth0). The script works only partially - the speed is being limited but too much. Without running this script my download rate is about 10kBytes (with second computer also downloading at about 6kBytes). After running it my download speed

PPPoE and shaping
Hi all, I have a little problem with my home-made slackware linux server. Here is the scenario: 1. I have a local wifi network 2. my server do masquerading and exit in internet via a PPPoE connection Goals: 1. not use SQUID 2. shaping the traffic with classes 3. emule connection must have minimum priority and a band-limit of 10KBytes/s in uplink (server--->internet) Any idea? Thx, Diego --

HTB: Problem with excess bandwidth distribution
Hello, I have a serious problem with HTB which I wasn''t able to solve myself. I run a masquerading router with ppp0 as interface to the Internet. Three clients need to share a downstream of 1 MBit, which I want to divide with tc. When I see a packet being forwarded to one of these clients, I give it the appropriate unique mark: iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 192.168.34.141 -j MARK

Simple HTB setup with tcng
Hello all, I am trying to set up a simple htb based system, where packets with source ip 10.0.0.1 should have their own class. I plan to use tcng to set it up easier. Is there something wrong in my tcng file ? ~/tcng$ cat htb /* */ #include "fields.tc" #include "ports.tc" dev eth0 { htb ( ) { class ( rate 600kbps, ceil 600kbps ) {

IPTables script
Hi All, I''ve been playing with QOS for a short while now and have worked out how to do what I want using HTB. Great queuing discipline btw. My problem is the tc filters I want to setup aren''t working because iptables is getting to the packets first and mangling the src address. The iptables script I am using is MonMotha''s Firewall 2.3.8 and it includes lots of nice

HTB - prio and rate
Hi all, I''ve not been able to find an explanation of the relationship between prio and rate as they apply to the HTB technique. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me. As I understand things, when prio values are assigned to an HTB setup, classes with a given prio value will only be serviced when there are no packets waiting in classes with a lower prio value. Now, does

2.6.14 - HTB/SFQ QoS broken?
Hello, First of all, I already contacted Martin Devera, the developer of HTB, and he told me to search for help on this mailinglist, thus I am describing my problems here now... I am kind of seriously annoyed by QoS as I have been trying for over 3 years to get it working properly - first I did not understand how it works, then it seemed not to work, then it was working perfectly for half a

Big problem :(((((
Hello! I have an internet connection of 64kbps garanteed in a channel of 256kbps. On this connection the metropolitan speed is 10Mbps and in the provider''s network the speed is 100Mbps. I have a few clients behind my linux box and i want to set up some limitations because some of them are using it irrational. I am marking the packets with 0 for internet; 1 for metropolitan 2 for

Looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic
I am looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic over outgoing traffic for my machine. I have a 100mbit line, ftp up, backup data comming in, but whenever mirrors starts grabbing it they use all the traffic and the backup data comming in (the important data) drops to like 300kb/sec. I was thinking some script doing sleep 60 [if downstream > 1mb/sec, limit

Shaping with htb and VLAN
Hello At first I must tell you that I´m a real newbie with Linux (and english as well...) I´m using 2 vlans and shaping works quite well without vlan Now I want to do load balancing at these vlans. Any vlan should get the same minimum/maximum bandwidth of download and use the bandwidth that isn´t used by the other one at the moment. But with vlan the shaping doesn´t work. Can you please tell me
