samba and squid?
Hi all. I'd like to look into using samba in conjunction with squid, to authenticate users before leaving the intranet thru the squid proxy. I'm using RH6, and thought there may be either a PAM module to do this, or the possibility of authenticating against a PDC or samba server for squid authentication? Thanks, Dave

High load on Squid server after change from reiserfs to ext3
We are running Zope behind Squid 2.4Stable6 with squid in acceleration mode. The squid box (dual Pentium III 1 GHz, RH 7.2, Linux 2.4.9-21smp, 2GB Ram) has during busy hours a normal load of 0.2-0.3 . From time to time we see spikes over some hours where the load average of the machine is higher than 1.5 although there are no spikes in the CPU utilization. Also there is no increase in the number

squid HA failover?
I'm running a pair of squids as an internal cache for some intermediate data used by a web server farm and currently doing failover by going through an F5 bigip. However, I'd like to avoid the bigip and use heartbeat since there are only two machines. I don't need to sync any content since it is a fast-changing cache and either machine can handle everything. Is it possible to

several bugs (PR#918) lists and matrices
### I got bit again by the same bugs I wrote about a year ago. ### The bugs are related to matrices and arrays of lists. ### 1. There is a clear inconsistency in how R handles two ### functionally equivalent statements. ### array() is able to take a list and create a matrix. ### matrix() is unable to create that matrix. > vector("list", 2) [[1]] NULL [[2]] NULL >

IMAP4rev1 broken with evolution
Hi, I'm running 1.0rc6 on Solaris/SPARC, compiled myself against openssl. Client is Evolution 2.6.2 on my gentoo x86 laptop. As Dovecot is not yet productive, we run it parallel to UW-imap, on other ports. I use TLS. If I configure my evolution client with server-type IMAP, everything works fine. However, dovecot claims IMAP4rev1 support. However, when I set server-type to IMAP4rev1 in

Slightly OT: Cron for Logrotate and Squid

[OT] Shaping and squid question
List Out of interest, I use transparent squid proxies for caching websites, and I shape the clients that browse the net, this all works perfectly so no questions in this regard... CLIENT <--- eth0 ----> SQUID <----- ppp0 -----> NET What I just realised was that all egress traffic on eth0 gets shaped, squid gets data from ppp0 and hence is not shaped. Does this mean that squid

Also, I''ve a squid cache and it works very good! I''ve found Jim QoS script, and FairNat. Which is more suitable for me ? Jim QoS ? FairNat ? other ? If I put FairNat, I would need ZPH patch

Squid memory leaks in -stable using libc malloc
Hi, Using Squid with libc's malloc, I'm seeing a big difference between what top reports as memory used for the squid process (SIZE) and what Squid's cache manager reports that Squid has allocated (total KB allocated in the memory utilization page). Squid is using around twice as much memory as expected, and seems to grow without bounds (I run out of memory every now and then).
