Mozzila Logout back button issue
Hello,
I have recently created an application in Rails which makes use of a
login and logout system. I have a user controller and model as well as a
login controller. My login controller performs my logout and login
functions. The user is a scaffold of my database table and is auto
generated from rails.
def process_login

acts_as_authenticated, reset_session, and redirect_back_or_default
Just a question and an FYI
I just installed rails and acts_as_authenticated and was setting up a
site. Everything works fine except that in the AccountController that
I generated the calls to the routine redirect_back_or_default don''t
work because the call just before it to reset_session clears the
session[:return_to] that the method uses to set where it will
redirect.
I ended up adding

Login Authentication working in IE but not in Mozilla
I have gone through the following site for the creation of my login
page:
To mention I am using Windows XP pfofessional running on WEBBrick server
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoAuthenticate
The code is given in the following 3 steps:
1)The controller that needs protection:
class WeblogController < ActionController::Base
before_filter :authenticate
def index
# show

before_filter always running in test, not in development or production mode.
I''m using Shoulda and restful_authentication on Rails3 and whenever I
run my tests a before filter for login_required is always triggered,
despite my filter being set up as:
before_filter :login_required, :only =>
[:update, :edit, :suspend, :unsuspend, :destroy, :purge]
My test is this:
context ''A guest to the site'' do
context ''on GET to

Redirects and keeping flash
My code that acts if a session has timed out looks like this:
reset_session
session[:expires_at] = nil
# TODO - This flash is never shown, because we redirect maybe?
flash[:error] = ''Your session has timed out, please login to
continue.''
# An attempt to make flash stick around, not working
flash.keep
redirect_to :controller => ''security'',

flash not shown
I am using the following code (inspired by one of the books) to check if
the user''s session should have timed out.
# Check to see if the user has been inactive for longer than the
# expiry period. If they have, reset the session.
def check_timeout
if session[:expires_at] != nil
@time_left = (session[:expires_at] - Time.now).to_i
unless @time_left > 0

What am I missing?
There''s got to be a simple answer to this...
def logout
reset_session
flash[:notice] = "Logged out"
redirect_to :action => ''index''
end
The flash never shows up, and doesn''t seem to be in the new session.

Agh, this is annoying. Why is this happening?
My problem:
Mock ''Task_1005'' received unexpected message :user_id= with (1)
No matter what I do to try to stub that out it will still fail out and give
me that message.
Here is my spec
describe TasksController, "handling POST /tasks" do
before(:each) do
@task = mock_model(Task, :to_param => "1", :save => true)

need help with some ugly code - is there a better way?
Hi,
In my user_controller.rb, I have the following method, which is supposed
to send the user to their profile, dependng on what "role" they are (the
roles correspond to the other controllers: venue, band, fan):
def login
if request.post?
if session[:user_id] = User.authenticate(params[:user][:login],
params[:user][:password])

Examples of writing controller specs that use authentication
Hello,
I''m working on specs for a controller that handles authentication
using the restful_authentication plugin. I''m trying to find a
resource (tutorial or examples, if possible) about the best way to go
about writing mocks and specs to make sure that things like my
before_filters are working correctly. Does anyone know of any good
resources for this?
Thanks,

using restful_authentication current_user inside controller specs
I''m using restful_authentication in my app and I have the before filters in
my application rhtml:
before_filter :login_required
around_filter :set_timezone
around_filter :catch_errors
Currently I have them commented out while rspec''in but I''ll need to add them
in my specs.

@ticket.user = current_user

reset_session when Ruby goes down
Hi,
In my web application we have implemented the session and it works fine.
ie. it prompts for the userid/password when ever we give the URL by
opening a new IE window. i.e it goes through the session and see if the
:user_id is present in the session if not it prompts to log-in again.
But my problem is say if we "kill" the WebRICK abruptly by pressing ^C
and say my browser window

RESTful Authentication Plugin Not Found
I am new to Rails, but when I try to install the REST Authentication
it always says plugin not found. I''ve followed the instructions on GIT
and I also followed along on the NETTUTS explanation. I copy and past
what is shown but without success. Any ideas out there? Thanks for the
help.

Where did this value in a form come from?
Newb here.
I have a form and a value that is being displayed ... and I have no idea
where the value came from.
I have done a
<%= debugger; '''' %>
in the form and, indeed, the debugger stops at the statement.
I have tried to trace through the code to see where the value came from
... and I gave up.
So ... what in Rails initializes the fields of a form?

Can't get to an action in a RESTful controller
Folks,
I am using the restful_authentication plugin. This creates the users
controller which is declared as a resource in routes.rb as below
map.resources :users
Now in the UsersController I have created an action to resetpwd that I
am trying to get to from the login page when the user clicks "forgot
password". However, when I do that the log file tells me that the call

It seems to be a restful_authentication bug (was Re: Re: named route new_session not working)
