clone MAC address
Hi, I have a mini router that have this feature, "clone MAC address" My ISP doesn''t allow me to connect more than one computer. But, with the "clone MAC address" of the mini router, I can connect up to 5 computers, and my ISP can''t notice that. What do I need to do this "clonning" with my linux box? Thanks, Nico

WonderShaper on LAN link kills to-host speed
I tried installing the WonderShaper on my internal link, mostly to get the SFQ installed. I set uplink and downlink to 100000 to match the link speed and changed the bandwidth on the cbq line to 100mbit. This killed transfer speed *to* the box, knocking it from 30-40 Mbps down to about 800 kbps. Commenting out just the ingress control restored the speed. What about the ingress policer would do

tc htb stats
I have an htb qdisc setup and it is shaping my traffic wonderfully but I''ve just recently started taking a look at the output from the command tc -s class ls dev eth? Looking at the "rate" line I thought to myself..."cool I can use this to graph throughput avg.es without having to worry about the "Sent bytes" rolling over or being lost when the htb qdisc is

Limited write bandwidth from ext3
We are running a benchmark that does single threaded 512 KB writes to a LUN on a CLARiiON storage array. The dual Xeon host (Dell 2650) with 4 GB of memory runs RHEL 4U3 We measured the write bandwidth for writes to the block device corresponding to the lun (e.g. /dev/sdb), a file in an ext2 filesystem and to a file in an ext3 file system. Write b/w for 512 KB writes Block device 312 MBps Ext2

Bandwidth optimisation
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. Hi, I am using CentOS 5.0 at home, ADSL ~16 Mbps/~1 Mbps Internet connection and my ping time to my ISP is 160-170 msec. When downloading something with Firefox, I am getting download speeds of about 100-180 KB/sec (for example when downloading SP2 of XP from MS server). Are the CentOS networking settings OK for this kind of latency, or do I have to change some settings?

GS BT102 dual ethernet port -bandwidth impact
FYI for anyone using the dual ethernet ports on a Grandstream BT102. I'm using a BT102 connected to an HP2524 10/100 switch, which has an asterisk box connected directly to it. No VLANs defined or in use. Measured bandwidth: PC -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual throughput measured at 94.1 mbps. PC -> BT102 -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual measured at 8.86 mbps. The

How to find the NIC Capacity / Bandwidth ?
Hi, Any body having idea to find the NIC Capacity / BW (10 / 100 Mbps) ? Whether the interface may be eth0/eth1/ppp0 or some other. Is there any related IOCTL avialable, if so just give the linux-2.4.18 file path. thanks, Srikanth. _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc HOWTO: http://lartc.org/

IPFW Bandwidth throttling?
I am trying to limit outgoing SMTP traffic to about 14 Mbps and these are the IPFW rules I am using. ${fwcmd} add pipe 1 tcp from 192.168.0.0/24 to any 25 out via dc0 ${fwcmd} pipe 1 config bw 14Mbit/s I've tried multiple tweaks to the pipe rule and I seem to be missing something. I only get about half the bandwidth I specify. Is this normal behavior? Is there something wrong

ingress can be used to control the incoming packet, such as: tc qdisc add dev eth0 handle ffff: ingress tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 5 u32 match ip src 172.16.1.11 police rate 10kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1 tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 5 u32 match ip src 172.16.1.22 police rate 10kbit burst 10k drop flowid :2 first ,I do not sure these method can

video codec comparisons
Reviewers who have published comparisons of video codecs recently tend not to publish their source video clip, nor encoded video clips.? It might help promote theora if there was a link we could provide to a nice source clip, only one or two minutes long with a mix of action and talking head spots, with several versions of it compressed in theora format; maybe 250 kbps, 500 kbps, 750 kbps, 1 mbps,

[ANNOUCE] iproute2 update
A new version of the iproute2 utilities is available to handle the new extensions for 2.6.7. * Based on the last known good version of iproute2 from Alexy * Included most of the vendor patches (except for the stupid ones). * Got rid of lots of the glibc workarounds, I intend this to build and run on 2.6 (and 2.4) only. * Fixed some parsing and formatting bugs. * Added gigabit as a rate.
