FCGI hanging w/ LightTPD in about 24-48 hours
I started an earlier thread about this ... Someone suggested a different version of LightTPD, since the version I was using had some known issues with FCGI. Well, we''ve upgraded to LightTPD 1.4.11 and the problem is still happening. We have Rails running under fcgi (one process) under LightTPD. This, in turn, is proxied to by Apache. This is on a test IP, so only a few people should

Manually running dispatch.fcgi fails
I''m a newbie trying to setup lighttpd. It is failing with error 500. I tried running dispatch.fcgi by hand and I''m getting: # ./dispatch.fcgi /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-1.2.5/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:200:in `const_missing'': uninitialized constant RailsFCGIHandler (NameError) from ./dispatch.fcgi:24 Not sure how to proceed from here.

lighttpd + fastcgi + camping
Hello all, I am running in some little stumbling blocks with passenger as a multi user environment (the most problematic feature is that, once you setup a sub-domain passenger wants you to declare on nginx every app running on that nginx server which is not ideal to add apps on the fly and / or if a user wants to run 2 apps from his space) so I was thinking about a more drag a drop / one line

Re: Manually running dispatch.fcgi fails (Please help!!)
I''m really lost on this issue. Do I need to reinstall rails / gems? The rest of my rails setup seems to be working. I just can''t run dispatch.fcgi. (Details in original message below). I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. I''m not even positive it is supposed to be runnable from the command line. I found a troubleshooting guide that implied it was supposed to

setup problem, every request trys to download dispatch.fcgi
Has anyone ever seen it where every request tries to download a fcgi file but marked as a .rb file? Im running LightTPD 1.4, Ruby 1.8.4, FastCGI. The lighty config is... var.basedir = "/var/www/sites/" $SERVER["socket"] == "101.0.0.171:80" { var.servername = "stage.butlerandtanner.com" server.document-root = basedir + servername + "/public/"

File upload works with webrick, but fails in lighttpd 1.4.11
I''ve been trying to add a basic file upload feature (just based on the Rails Recipes example), but I find that it only works with the webrick server and not my lighttpd 1.4.11 server. I''m running Rails 1.1.2 on OSX. The upload silently fails with both firefox and Safari, even with the useragent hack and with any size of file/image. My lighttpd config is pretty standard as

dispatch.fcgi hanging after lighttpd shutdown
Hi. I''m using RoR 1.0 with FastCGI and lighttpd on a Debian 3.1 box. I have configured lighttpd to do adaptive spawning of the FastCGI processes. However, after shutting down lighttpd the FastCGI processes remain running. Did this problem occur to anyone of you? Is there a fix? I''d be really grateful for every answer. A nasty evening with dispatch.fcgi
Hello all. Time for an all night installation campfire (no pun intended) story. I just helped a customer migrate from a single box to a 5 box system. 2 Lighty 2 FCGI 1 DB Everything went quite well. I scripted everything so it would be easy to add more boxes in the future. 3 scripts, one for each box type above. Then came time to get the site working. :-) Lighty came up easily. The DB came up

problem setting up lighttpd and rails app.
I am trying to set-up lighttpd and rails to work with fastcgi. Here is what I am currently using for the virtual host definition. I have gotten this from various websites. Sorry about the formatting I can''t seem to control it with Thunderbird. var.wholesale = "wholesale" $HTTP["host"] =~ "^wholesale" { server.document-root = "/var/lighttpd/"

Dispatch.fcgi h-e-double hockey sticks...
Hello Everyone ~ Last week I started having a dispatch.fcgi process go out of control on my Linux server. If I don''t catch it the process will eat my RAM, and devour my swap file until the machine becomes non-responsive. I am running Lighttpd and have not had any issues until lately. The logs are not telling me anything useful, and as a quick fix I am running the site using Mongrel,

installation problem with lighttpd
Ever since I moved my dev environment from my Powerbook to my new MacBook Pro, I cannot run the lighttpd webserver - it starts and immediately crashes out with an error (see below) saying a file does not exist. I''ve checked the file does exist. WEBrick works without any problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? John:~/web john$ ruby script/server => Booting lighttpd

Proxy from Apache to local Lighttpd instance
Hello, I''m having a serious problem proxying from Apache (2.2) to local Lighttpd servers. I need this to run Rails instances on www.mysite.com/rails next to the regular part from www.mysite.com. Currently I get a working www.mysite.com/rails for only the first page, controllers do not work. I am quite desperate in getting this to work as it is the only way I can run Rails at our
