Converting observe_field to UJS in Rails 3
I am trying to rewrite my website in Rails 3 and Ruby 1.9.2.
Can some one help me convert my observe_field which is working under
Rails 2.3.5 to Rails 3. I would like to avoid using JQuery as over the
last year everything I have tried in JQuery has failed, including this
one. Perhaps due to my lack of knowledge. I would not like to install

can someone explain to me how the options for helper text_field_tag
supposed to be written. I really tried a bunch of stuff without success.
For example I need a field with id "query", so I write
<%= text_field_tag :query %>
which works fine.
But what if I want the field only 5 characters big? I tried among other

Example code for select_from_db (a.k.a. combo box)
I''m not asking for help this time! :) :) In almost every Rails
project I create, I find that I want a select() popup menu that is
pre-populated by data from the database. Also, I want an "Other..."
option that presents a text_field_tag to input another (not
presented) option (basically a combo-box). In an attempt to be as
DRY as possible, I''ve come up with

how to call javascript function in text_field_tag
Dear all
Sorry for dummy question. How can I convert a text input in form to
upper case letter in view?
Can I call the javascript function toUpperCase() in text_field_tag??
<%= text_field_tag(:sometext, nil, :size => 14) %>
I know I can achieve this using params[:sometext].upcase in controller,
but I want to do this in view. Any ideas?
Many thanks
