What is the reccomended minimum rate for leaf htb class for accurate operation?
Hi,
I''m trying to setup QoS in my TSL box. Following to mailing list reccomendations I changed PSCHED_CPU but can''t get accurate shaping with HTB. I have disabled HYSTERESIS also (by setting it to 0).
I have Intel Celeron 1.8Mhz (TSC supported I think).

That''s download traffic we''re talking about, since you seem to be
shaping on your local LAN interface? Variable rate ISPs are tough
to shape right, I guess...

Is it possible to shape variable bandwidth?
Hello LARTC,
Internet connection - ADSL, interface nas0 (115kbit guarantied, up to 1mbit possible. Depends on ISP load, impossible to guess).
Internal interface LAN, eth0.
Is it possible to successfully shape download traffic on eth0 using HTB?
Classes must have guarantied rate calculated from 115kbit possible rate (for example 3 classes) and the possibility to borrow up to 1mbit (depends on ISP

Re: (OFF-TOPIC Interface question) Is it possible to shape variable bandwidth?
Hi people I''m new to the mailing list, but I''ll save my presentation
to another mail as I already have some strong questions. Now I just
faced this mail that arose me a question I had when "installing" my
qos.

Reccomendations for connecting to 3-4 PSTN lines?
Hello,
I'm looking to connect Asterisk with three (four in the future) PSTN
lines, and would like to get some opinions on the TDM400 Digium card, vs.
sip gateways like the Mediatrix 1204, vs. other hardware solutions I'm not
yet aware of.
I need the ability to prioritize which PSTN lines are used for outgoing
calls (I understand this can be done with the Mediatrix --

captcha
Hi all,
I want to implement a captcha on my register page to help weed out any
''non-human'' visitors.
I was told to check out http://expressica.com/simple_captcha/ but the
site isnt responding.
Does anyone have any other reccomendations that are tried and tested &
successful?
Many Thanks

PowerPC can not accurately run HTM
I am running HTB on a PowerPC platform and using following script to do rate limit.
When I set rate of class 1:11 lower than 4mbit, I can get traffic rate close to the setting.
However, if I set the rate higher than 4mbit, I will get much
lower bandwidth (roughly 4.5mbit) than the setting, no matter how big the setting is.
To verify the script, I run it on PC with then I got correct result.

Some Basic Reading
Hi there,
I'm very new here and would like to know if anyone has reccomendations
on fundamental reading (other than the handbook) whick might prevent me
from asking some really dumb questions (after this one of course).
What I'm trying to do:
I have a SOHO... very SO in fact. I would like to build a simple system
with two analog lines. I do recording and can't always have a cell

Forcing FCGI at dreamhost
Greetings all,
I''ve got an app in production at dreamhost, but I can''t seem to force
FCGI on it. I have it enabled for the domain in the admin panel, have
checked the file permissions in my public folder, and tried firing the
scripts from the command line.
When firing either dispatch.cgi, or dispatch.fcgi from the command line,
I get a 500 internal server error on BOTH.

HTB, MPU, and suitable values
It seems Andreas Klauer''s fairnat has experimental support for using HTB''s MPU
and overhead options.
fairnat.config:
# Use MPU for HTB. From the LARTC Howto on MPU:
# "A zero-sized packet does not use zero bandwidth. For ethernet, no packet
# uses less than 64 bytes. The Minimum Packet Unit determines the minimal
# token usage for a packet."

Indexing in anova summary output of the form: summary(aov(y ~ x1, Error = (x1/x2)))
Hi, there
I'm trying to get the value of the Mean Square from the ANOVA model
summary that comes from specifying the error term, and am wondering if
one can actually do this ( I know it's possible when using anova(lm)
objects and the like, but I'm having a tough time with it under this
framework). There does appear to be some indexing in the output of this
type, but perhaps not

limiting bandwidth on iface

Hi there!
Well, as an exercise, I try ''simulating'' an adsl link (just the speed ;o))
with a GRE tunnel and HTB for bandwidth limiting. Typically in germany
adsl has about 1024kbit downstream and 128kbits upstream (yes, there are
others ;) but these are what I have) - which are the values i try to simulate.
Here is the snipped that

T1 Hardware Echo Can
Hello,
After reading the lists and taking reccomendations from TC, I have finally
given up on the echo can built into asterisk. I am sick of hearing
complaints from users, so the money spent on a hardware echo can will be
worth its weight in gold.
I am curious however, about some setup and component requirements. It
seems as if every telecom place I call, either never calls back or doesn't

Client had recoverable error
Mhhh. I am streaming from a 8mbit adsl connection so it should be fast
enough. I tried streaming with media player, it's working for 24 hours now,
doesn't seem to have the problem, is my winamp 5.03 broken? Or is winamp
broken in general? :)
Thanks for the help.

Shared ADSL SHAPER
Hi,
I''m trying to make a shaper / firewall to improve sharing of bandwidth on a
ADSL (3mbit down / ½ mbit up)
Since the ADSL is very asymmetric, down is unimportant, I make a ingress rate
limit shaper to ensure, all shaping is at the Shaper, and not on the Router
or the ISP.
The Idea is then to make one HTB hierarchy and have each client (IP) filtererd
and put in a child-HTB queue.
