RESTful RESOURCE PARTIAL UPDATE
I have modified scaffolding code slightly to get three edit actions
and three update actions.
The requirement: to allow users to edit attributes for the same model
from seperate forms instead of one form, while using the given
scaffolding code and performing model validations. I am using
restful_authentication with the login email password validations
defined.

and @user.update_attributes, but can''t get it to work.
My Form:

scoped databases need explanation...
Could someone explain this
http://blog.leetsoft.com/articles/2005/10/31/scoped-databases
in a way that can be understood with an example if possible. Tobi Lutke
has started to explain but it does not make any sense.
"Since rails 0.13.1 we support calling class methods over associations."
what?? give an example.

Replicating Form Behaviour in Functional Test
Hi,
I''m really struggling getting a controller test to pass while the form
that uses the method operates correctly.
I would really welcome a second pair of eyes to help me find out what
I''m missing.
The test
def test_set_password
@request.session[:user] = users(:admin)
put :set_password, :id => users(:one).id, :user => {:password =>

Testing arbitrary post action parameters
I am working on our (newly renamed) authentication feature. The current
scenario is:
Scenario: Non-administrators should not set administrator ability
Given I have no users
And I add a user named "admin" as an administrator
And I add a user named "myuser" as not an administrator
When the user named "myuser" authenticates

Rails, respond_to? over anonymous module (extend has_many).
Hello List,
I''m trying to generate examples for some list-helpers I have coded
which use in my projects.
Basically, the Playlist class uses one anonymous module in has_many
that acts as helper between acts_as_list and my desired API:
class Playlist < ActiveRecord::Base
# associations go here
has_many :playlist_items, :order => :position, :dependent => :destroy
has_many

Drop down list ?
Hi Gurus, I''m trying to tackle a drop down list. I have category and
item dbs, and they''re wired up with category has_many :items and item
belongs_to :category, and an item has a category_id. I have this code
in my new/edit.html.erb for item:
<%= f.collection_select :category_id,
Category.find_main, :id, :header, {}, :multiple => false %>

Displaying based on hostname/subdomain
Ive tried multiple ideas to get this to work, but keep hitting a dead
end. Has anyone done this before?
I want joe.domain.com to display www.domain.com/profile/joe
Im using lighttpd.
Routes dont have access to the URL string and therefore I cant code in
a conditional. lighttpd rewrite seems to really screw it all up. Is
there a feasible solution?
Thank you,

Hello to everyone,
Well, very frustrated with this one because I am following the example
straight from the documentation and it is not working.
First when I try:
validates_confirmation_of :password, :on => :password_update
(password_update is a def in my User model which works fine without
this validation in please)
I get the following error:
TypeError in UsersController#update_password

Problems with form_remote_tag
Hi,
I am trying to use form_remote_tag to update a record and then update
the section of the page where id=''opertion_panel''. There is a javascript
validation that validates the input before the record is being updated.
This validation works and the record was successfully updated. The
problem is after the record is being updated, it didn''t update
operation_panel.

remote_form_for ajax validation
Hi,
I have been reading a lot about this, but I do not manage to do a nice
validation. I already managed to save data to the database, to
validate a field, to display a "Everything went well" message. I can
also display an error message, but the view does not end up properly.
This is the form:
<% remote_form_for(product) do |f| %>
<%= f.error_messages %>
<p>
