VNC 'fix' for 256 colour game only shows 2 colours?
I'm trying to run an old (~1995) Windows game under Wine, but it requires 256 colours and won't work any higher. I've checked out the 256 colour hacks page and the X methods don't work, because I use the FGLRX drivers and they don't support 8bpp, so I'm trying VNC. I've installed vnc-server and vnc so I can play it through a 256 colour VNC connection, but so far I can

Challenge response auth & more devices
Hello all, during tests of my SecurID patch I found a small mistake (maybe) in initialization of kbd-int devices. When kbdintctxt->device->init_ctx(authctxt) returns NULL whole challenge response authentication is stopped regardless availability of next devices. Small patch solving this situation is attached. ____________________________________________________________ Vyzkou?ejte pohodl?

Colour-coding intervals on a line
Hi, This is a simple version of something that I am trying to do. If I can sort the problem basically, I figure I should be able to sort it for the program I'm writing (which would take longer to explain). I need to know if there is any way of using different colours for different intervals of a line on a graph. Eg. If I plot the line y=x for x=1:10, and split this line into 106 intervals

Brewer colours
Anyone who is interested in using optimal colour palettes should look at the work of Cindy Brewer: www.colorbrewer.org I have written code to use her colour schemes in R. It is included below. Perhaps someone may find this interesting enough to work into a package. Included also is a function showpalette, which was posted here a while back. I don't remember who wrote it. I have copied all

[PATCH] daemon: augeas: filter out AUG_NO_STDINC from aug-init (RHBZ#1144927)
The lenses in our custom path need the system lens for base definitions. Disabling the system path was worthless anyway, since our API does not allow user-specified custom paths. The only possible use for AUG_NO_STDINC to aug-init could have been to not load the lenses right at init time loading them later; however, this is what the AUG_NO_LOAD flag (= 32) does already. --- daemon/augeas.c | 5

Selecting complementary colours
Dear r-helpers, I wonder whether, given the "#rrggbb" representation of a colour, there is a simple way to select the complementary colour, also expressed as a "#rrggbb" string. Any suggestions would be appreciated. John -------------------------------- John Fox, Professor Department of Sociology McMaster University Hamilton, Ontario Canada L8S 4M4 905-525-9140x23604

colours in a pdf
Hi, I'm plotting PDFs and have a problem. If I have more than 8 sources of data the colours are repeated. These plots are used to remove poor data from the sets so it would be helpful if I could expand the colour range. Is there any way to do this? The plots are coloured by defining a vector colsVec<-1:(length(mzXMLfiles)) And defined in the loop for (file in 1:length(mzXMLfiles)) as

Thanks for the link to the data. Here's my best guess. If you use the following approach, with the HC0 type of robust standard errors in the

Transform and "Lenses xx and xx could be used to load this file"
Hi David, We have a general problem using Augeas in libguestfs and I wonder if you have any advice. The problem is that we often -- as with yesterday's patch -- add new config file paths to lenses. Or we want to parse config files which are not necessarily in the exact paths that Augeas is expecting. Now it's easy enough to parse such files using an arbitrary lens by calling

wrong colours when printing from Windows
I have a strange issue with Brother MFC-5440CN printer. When I print from Linux/CUPS, it prints colours fine. When I print from Windows, using Windows drivers (without Samba), it also prints fine. When I print from Windows through Samba/CUPS (drivers added using cupsaddsmb...), it gives me wrong colours: expected | result -------------------- yellow | blue blue | red red | green

setting specific colours for different groups of points on a scatter plot
Hi, I have a table with three columns of data, let's call these a, b and c. I have produced a scatter plot of a against b, but I would like to colour the points according to their corresponding c values. c takes the value of either 0,1,2,3 or 4 and so I would like to colour all of the points with a c value of 0 one colour, all those with a c value of 1 another colour etc. When I use

Natural colours for topographic data
Dear list members I'm currently working on some topographic (elevation) data, and was somewhat surprised that the 'topo.colors' and 'terrain.colors' are of little to no use here. The problem is that these functions only return a palette of colours; they don't map depth values to colours. So if I plot (using 'image', 'persp' or similar functions) and

RGB components of plot() colours
A quick question: Is there anywhere a listing of the RGB components of the named colours listed by colors()? For example, where would I find the RGB for "orange1" or "salmon"? When I look at an EPS file from R where I have used these colours, it seems that for: "salmon": 0.9804 0.5020 0.4471 rgb "orange1": 1 0.6471 0 rgb However, this is a tedious way
