display formatted date
Hi,
In my form I have date field set as ''datetime_select'' which is fine as I
wanted it in the same format. But while displaying (list action) it
displays date in long format i.e. ''Tue May 30 15:39:00 Central Daylight
Time 2006''. How can I format it so that it will just be diaplyed as
''dd/mm/yyyy'' format?
Thanks

How to update partial attributes of a object from a form?
I have a user table, and it has forty columns, including name, gender,
address, email, phone...
So my @user object will have forty attributes.
I divide these attributes into 4 groups... namely ''general info'',
''personal info'', ''contact info''... and I make separate forms to edit
these 4 different group attributes.
The problem is when I update

AM/PM select
I have a customer that has a request that the select_datetime fields
have AM/PM selectors instead of 24 hour time.
The rails time and datetime selects seem to only support 24 hour time.
I can''t seem to find any information on this. i was wondering if
there is already a solution out there, or will i have to roll my own?

date.to_s trimming
When I convert a datetime to a string, it prints out something like this
Jan 20 12:00:00 EST 2006
I want to trim off the last twelve characters, i.e.
:00 EST 2006
I tried to do it like so:
@date =
@meeting.date.to_s.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp.chomp
but the chomps seem to do nothing. I''d love to use regex, but I don''t
know which

plot dates in x-axis
Hallo,
I am trying to plot dates in x-axis. The format of my dates are in dd/mm/yyyy. At first I install zoo package. After R reads my file, I change the default format of dates to the format that I have,
>myfile<-read.csv
>DATE<-as.Date(DATE,format="%d/%m/%Y")
up till now everything goes ok; when however I go and plot for example
>plot(DATE, Discharge)
in the x-axis I

Cannot build custom locale with utf-8 charset
I am trying, without success, to compile a custom locale for the utf-8
character set. I have issued this command:
localedef --no-archive -f UTF-8 -i
/usr/share/i18n/locales/en_CA at yyyy-mmm-dd en_CA at yyyy-mmm-dd.utf8
which produces the requisite files without reporting an error but
which none-the-less insists on using the iso-8859-1 charset:
LC_ALL=en_CA at yyyy-mm-dd locale charmap

embedding ruby code in a [flash :notice]
The ruby code in this isn''t evaluated...

Is there a way?

Changing default date format in Rails
I''ve spent all day digging through the rails api and postgres-pr on
this, I think it''s time to ask the list.
Postgres stores a Date in YYYY-MM-DD format. My users want the dates
in MM/DD/YYYY format.
Sure, I could explicitly convert it on the app level every place where
a date is displayed, but that seemed like a DRY violation.
I thought I''d be clever and simply

POSIXlt converted to POSIXct in as.data.frame()
In trying to use as.Date(), I've come across the conversion of POSIXlt to
POSIXct when a POSIXlt variable is included in a data frame:
my_POSIX <- strptime(c("11-09-2006", "11-10-2006", "11-11-2006",
"11-12-2006", "11-13-2006"), "%m-%d-%Y")
str(my_POSIX)
my_Date <- as.Date(my_POSIX)
str(my_Date)
data <- format(my_Date)

will_paginate question
Hi-
Is it possible to use search parameters with will_paginate?
For example, something like this:
@var = Model.paginate :per_page => 20, :page => params[:page],
:order => ''my_date DESC'', :conditions
=>["my_date >= ? AND my_date <=?",@start,@end]
I am getting some errors with this, but will this generally work?

I am trying to evaluate how many elements in a vector equal a certain value. The vectors are the columns of a data.frame, read in using read.table():
