dev IFB, few questions
I''ve made some tests...
eth2 is my internal interface, LAN is connected here.
Before I had IMQ device in AB mode...
PREROUTING [A]fter NAT, POSTROUTING [B]efore NAT.
I want the same situation on ifb.
I do this in this way:
---
# incoming traffic here from LAN is before NAT
tc qdisc add dev eth2 handle ffff: ingress
# outcoming traffic here from WAN is after NAT
tc qdisc add dev eth2

esfq experience anyone?
Hey, fellow LART controlllers,
I''d like to ask if someome has a real esfq experience with HTB class
hierarchy and esfq qdiscs. Lets say that I want to unite the connections
to 10 client PCs with u32 or fw filters (doesn''t matter which one in fact)
into one HTB class with esfq qdisc at the end.
Did anyone tried it, and more important, did it worked the way it is supposed to?

Access200 Sharing Problem
Hi!
Using samba-3.0.11 or 3.0.11rc1 on RH9
Win Clients are XP SP2
I have a problem with sharing an ACCESS2000 mdb file on a samba share. The
first user can open the file without any trouble. The next user (or the
same user again) has to wait a timed 4 minutes before the database opens
for him.
I have tried a number of various locking options (oplocks = no, veto

gypsy, and not only
hi
i ve seen one of your replies here and i saw that you receomend 2
modifications in the kernel files in order to improve htb.
first in pkt_sched.h, changing PSCHED_JIFFIES to PSCHED_CPU.
and then, sch_htb.c, changing HYSTERESIS from 1 to 0.
is it that simple?
i mean i just change these here variables and i get better results?
i ve done a search and found the first file in 3 locations. where

Simple question... where to find last stable version of HTB
Hi,
New to traffic shaping I would like to make some tests. It''s for a
production server (fw), using 2.4.27 kernel.
Something is not clear to me about HTB... is the last stable version
included in the 2.4.27 kernel and iproute2 (iproute2-2.6.8-040823.tar.bz2) ?
Are there special patches to apply ?

Semi-shaped traffic
During my tests I''m starting to feel stupid :). Traffic
shaping works quite on its own.
System: RedHat 7.3, RedHat kernel 2.4.18-18.7.xsmp, HTB
version 3.6, interfaces eth0 and eth1 are acting as bridge br0.
If TCP shaping almost works, it just exceeds limits UDP
is not shaped. Traffic flows PC=>eth0=>eth1=>PC. Statistics
shown is for just UDP traffic (1mbit of small udp

HTB and Openvpn
Hi!
I have just started with traffic shaping, and after hours of reading
websites, man pages asf. I am still stumped at one problem I have.
The interface eth0 is attached to the outside world, and I have an openvpn
tunnel to another part of the organization using eth0 and port 5001.
The idea was that all traffic going through the tunnel would have top
priority and the rest share

on gateway 2 which is 128 kbps ... the

Download and upload independency
Hello everyone:
As it is known, when you limit uplink bandwidth it usually gets downlink
bandwidth to a lower value.
I just want to know what is the optimal configuration for eth1 and imq0
according to some variables of tc(HTB), txqueuelen, mtu, etc. to make
these packet flows less independent on an ethernet based network.
Thank you in advance.

Problems patching kernel 2.4.19-r9
A question about the tc binary and diff file that are
included in htb3.6-020525.tgz. I can''t seem to patch tc
in the source tree, and that has made me hesitate to
alternatively substitute the native /usr/sbin/tc for
the binary supplied with the patch materials. I''m
running kernel 2.4.19-r9, and when I run
xingu:/usr/src/linux #patch -p1 --dry-run <

Update FC1 samba-3.0.6 breaks system
Hi!
I have a curious problem. I updated my Fedora Core 1 box yesterday from
samba-3.0.2 to samba-3.0.6. All the packages that were suggested by yum.
I have the box join an NT4 Domain, and while yesterday before the update a
smbstatus would list the users as CENTRUM+Username (CENTRUM is my NT
Domain) today it refuses to do so, and any shares apart from the public
ones are not available any

Avoid dropped packets
I´m shaping with htb with a kernel 2.4.25 compiled with PSCHED_CPU. What i´m
noticing (in mrtg) is that traffic coming in to eth0 (internet side) is much
bigger than eth1(Lan side).
I think this is due to packets being dropped right? In this case, is there
any way to avoid this? because right now traffic coming from the router is
being wasted right?
This is the output of tc:

Problems using The Ultimate Traffic Conditioner from the Cookbook
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I''m absolutely new to tc and found The Ultimate Traffic Conditioner to be
exactly what I wanted as a starting point.
Now the script doesn''t behave as I expected though, which applies to both the
CBQ and HTB versions, the latter of which being my preference.
The only changes made to the script are these assignments:

htb errors, wrong patch?
I downloaded iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz and I did patched tc with
the htb3.6_tc.diff from htb3.6-020525.tgz and when I try to use a htb script
I get just errors. I did not patch the kernel, since I use kernel 2.4.21 and
I saw on - HTB Homepage that I need to patch it only if I run version 2.4.20
or earlier. Do also need the kernel patch ? Or maybe is something else
wrong?

[announce] iproute2 for 2.6.8 (and 2.4.27)
This version supports:
* changes ''tc'' for latest netem
* hfsc/sc patch from Patrick
* packet classification action from Jamal
* copies of critical tc/netlink API headers so the command can be
built on older systems. Only auto-configuration left is ATM.
The versioning scheme is to label the highest version of kernel used.
It should build and run on older systems as well,

Prevent machine password change
Hi
I am using samba 3.0.7-2 on my FC1 box as a PDC with a backend of tdbsam
and I would like to set up a BDC for the domain as well.
The big samba book tells me it can be done with tdbsam, but is wary about
the machine passwords changing, thus breaking the replication done with
rsync.
I don't have the time right now to get into an ldap backend, so I was
wondering if there is a way to
