Hello there,
this is probably a very simple problem but I''m stuck.
I''m following the Login generator tutorial from rubyonrails. It''s all
worked fine so far. But I want to add a bit more functionality so that
when a user signs up in addition to chosing a login name and password
they type in a company name which is added to a seperate table called
COMPANIES. The id

I have a User ActiveRecord model that has email and password properties. I

Framework question about FormHelper ...
Hello,
I don''t understand how formhelper works (In a Framework point of view) ...
For example if I use the chek_box formhelper
1/ check_box("puppy", "gooddog", {}, "yes", "no") will call @puppy.gooddog
BUT, how it is possible since the check_box has only a string parameters
not instance object ?
2/ if you create your own helper which generate

assert_redirected_to not working as expected
I''ve installed the "acts_as_authenticated" plugin and made some
modifications to the controller (app/controllers/account_controller.rb)
"signup" module as follows:

def signup
@page_title = ''Create Account''
@user = User.new(@params[:user])
if request.post?

attempt to override the ''tag'' method
I want to override the ''tag'' method in
ActionView::Helpers::TagHelper to do some generalized
error handling similar to the way scaffolding puts a
red border around fields that fail validation.
I''ve created a file lib/rails_patches/tag_helper.rb
which contains the following.
module ActionView
module Helpers
module TagHelper
alias_method :orig_tag, :tag

Additional link tag attributes with link_to_function...
Hi,
I''m having a bit of a struggle with link_to_remote. Everything works
exactly as I want it, but the problem is that I want to add another
attribute to the <a>-tag, namely class="". Long story short, I want
specific links to look differently from others, but all of them being
link_to_function. Normally, I''d do this with adding a class="foo" to

check_box_tag is limited?
Hello all.
Am I going totally nuts here and just want to check (Natch!) something.
A normal check_box has two value posssibilities. One for checked and one
for unchecked, the value gets submitted with a form.
The check_box_tag on the other hand, has a checked_value (Called just
''value'') and for the unchecked value...nothing, zip, nada.
This means that if you submit a form with

Simply Getting Post Params
I am a complete Rails newbie and am trying to understand how I can
simply get the data from a password field in a form that is not mapped
to a field in the database.
The scenario is this. I have a User model that is mapped to a table
users with the following fields: username, email_address, password and
join_dt. Following pretty closely to the login section in the Agile Web

Howto: Check_box with a variable (no model)
Hi,
I would like to put a checkbox on a form where the input field is a
variable rather than a field in a model.
The normal way (with a model) would be:
<%= check_box(''client'', ''accept'', {}, "1", "0") %>
But since accept is a variable @accept and model client will not be
there, how do I make a check box work?
Regards,

Getting check_box to default to checked?
I''ve tried this (in a new method/template -- so @type doesn''t actually
exist yet):
check_box ''type'', ''notify_on_create'', {:checked=>''true''}
But :checked seems to get swallowed. I''ve also tried setting
notify_on_create to true in the Type model, but that doesn''t work
either. Any way to get the

Ruby on Rails w/Dreamhost - routes problem...I think.
I am trying to deploy my first app on Dreamhost using Ruby on Rails. I
followed the wiki, but I think I am missing something. I think it may
be in my RoR code, but I am not sure.
My app runs fine when run as
http://localhost:3000/AddPatientVisit/addvisits
AddPatientVisit is the controller and addvisits is the form that posts
back to the controller.
I got rid of the index.html in public
