HTB weird problem ....
Hello good day to all ... this is my setup 1 Linux Wireless Access Point, connected are 4 wireless gateway in which i needed to apply shaping ... ok here is the weird part... clients on each gateway download files from the Acess Point ... a 500 mb file through ftp on gateway 1 which is up to 64 kbps ... the result is from 60-64 kbps speed which is fine ... on gateway 2 which is 128 kbps ... the

Difference between snmp traffic rate, and rate from tc
Hello, I use rrdtool to graph the traffic in the different classes on an interface, eth1. Basically, I use the output from tc -s qdisc ls dev eth1 my tc script (which is only for testing the graphing) looks like this: /sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 20 r2q 1 /sbin/tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 200kbit burst 15k /sbin/tc class add dev eth1 parent

tc filter add ... fw returns RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
When I run this: tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1: protocol ip prio 1 handle 1 fw I get: RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument The traditional interpretation of that gnarly error message is that cls_fw is missing, but lsmod | grep cls_fw gets me: cls_fw 2336 4 (autoclean) I can''t remove it because it''s in use, but all 4 statements that use it failed, so

HTB: Problem with excess bandwidth distribution
Hello, I have a serious problem with HTB which I wasn''t able to solve myself. I run a masquerading router with ppp0 as interface to the Internet. Three clients need to share a downstream of 1 MBit, which I want to divide with tc. When I see a packet being forwarded to one of these clients, I give it the appropriate unique mark: iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 192.168.34.141 -j MARK

Big problem :(((((
Hello! I have an internet connection of 64kbps garanteed in a channel of 256kbps. On this connection the metropolitan speed is 10Mbps and in the provider''s network the speed is 100Mbps. I have a few clients behind my linux box and i want to set up some limitations because some of them are using it irrational. I am marking the packets with 0 for internet; 1 for metropolitan 2 for

Multiple classes
I''m trying to implement something similar the the diagram in section 9.5.2.1 in the LARTC HOWTO, but must have missed something somewhere :( I''m trying to hack up wondershaper, as it looked like a good place to start.. Here''s where I currently at, but I''ve tried alot of different things, all failing, some worse than others. The end result is to throttle back 126

htb qdisc on top of htb
Hi I tryed to use a htb qdisc/class on top of another htb qdisc/class as you can see bellow: #!/bin/bash tc="/sbin/tc" $tc qdisc del dev eth0 root $tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 40 $tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100Mbit burst 15k $tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50Mbit burst 15k $tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid

prerouting does not effect filtering
I try to shape traffic using HTB and mark packets within iptables using PREROUTING. But the filterrules seems to ignore the marks set with PREROUTING Only POSTROUTING marks are accepted. First my configuration I have a router connected to the internet via ADSL over interface ppp0. eth0 is a tunnel to ppp0 and eth1 serves the LAN. LAN is 192.168.57.0/24 on 10Mbit ppp0 is 80.126.16.44 on

basic htb setup
Hey all. I''m trying to set up QoS using the HTB qdisc in a very basic setup, but it the example shown in the howto doesn''t seem to be working. While the packets show up in the correct classes, they appear to be completely ignoring the rates, meaning nothing gets shaped. My setup is that I''ve got a a bunch of machines behind my firewall/router: 1.2.3.1

tc filter oddities
I shape my upstream cable link with HTB from a script. My voip traffic (from the 192.168.0.14 host) gets priority over everything else to the near-starvation of other classes; the rest of the traffic is split up based on some priority rules (qos, empty ack packets, etc). eth1 is the uplink I''ve been using HTB and fw marking for the job until recently, when I changed the queue structure

deleting tc rules
Hi I''m doing traffic shaping with tc on ''10.0.0.0/30'' and ''10.0.0.28/30''. I want to delete part of shaping rules on the fly. (see my configuration at the end of this mail) I wan''t to delete the shaping for ''10.0.0.0/30'' on the fly while still keeping the shaping for part ''10.0.0.28/30'' running. When I for

IP based bandwith limit
Hi, i''ve following problem. One of our gateway router, which connects some of our customers should have bandwith limit. So customer A with IP XX should have 2 Mbit, customer B with IP YY should have 10 Mbit. There is no need of borrowing bandwith so no fairness needed. My simple question: with which technique should I manage this shaping? Or is there any existing project which

Shorewall Firewall con Openswan and OpenVPN
Hello guys, I past the last days trying to configure my shorewall 4.06 firewall to allow openvpn bridging connection. My scenario is the following: roadwarrior (openvpn client) -------------> Internet ------------> (X.Y.W.Z - eth0) Firewall/Gateway (10.x.x.254 - eth1) --------> Local Lan -------> OpenVPN Server (10.x.x.249 - br0) where 10.x.x.0-254 is my private lan X.Y.Z.W is

limit bandwidth per host question
EHLO tc gurus. New to traffic control. Unfortunately, the politicians here in Denmark have decided that a PC is the same as a television set - so anyone owning a PC and internet connection of over 255 kbit/s must pay DKR 2200/year = EUR 300 = USD 400 in television licence fees :-( This is a lot of money for poor students, so we want to offer the students the *option* of limiting their

tc does''nt limit the bandwidth!
Hi, good people! I wanted to limit my 4 customers to 144, 16, 32, and 32kbps. I used the following tc commands BUT IT FAILED TO LIMIT each and everyone of them to its bandwidth. What am I doing wrong: My tc scripts are: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 1 #Classes# tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 9bps ceil 9bps #Default

HTB traffic shaping odd effects
Hi, I''m trying to perform some (what I consider) basic traffic shaping on our network utilising HTB. I have mostly reused the example on the lartc.org site: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 10 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100mbit burst 24k tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50mbit ceil 80mbit burst 19k tc class add dev eth0

I have linux box (does nat and firewall for small network) connected to dsl. I want to set priorities for protocols (that nothing could disturb web browsing). This is my rules (eth0 connected to internet): /sbin/tc qdisc del dev eth0 root /sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1 htb default 30 r2q 100 /sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:2 htb rate 900Kbit burst 15k /sbin/tc class
