Is it possible to shape variable bandwidth?
Hello LARTC, Internet connection - ADSL, interface nas0 (115kbit guarantied, up to 1mbit possible. Depends on ISP load, impossible to guess). Internal interface LAN, eth0. Is it possible to successfully shape download traffic on eth0 using HTB? Classes must have guarantied rate calculated from 115kbit possible rate (for example 3 classes) and the possibility to borrow up to 1mbit (depends on ISP

HTB: Problem with excess bandwidth distribution
Hello, I have a serious problem with HTB which I wasn''t able to solve myself. I run a masquerading router with ppp0 as interface to the Internet. Three clients need to share a downstream of 1 MBit, which I want to divide with tc. When I see a packet being forwarded to one of these clients, I give it the appropriate unique mark: iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -d 192.168.34.141 -j MARK

htb bridge problem, please chceck my config
hello. i have following setup: a machine (winChip 200mhz cpu, 32mb ram, linux 2.4.28) acting like a bridge with 2 interfaces (eth0 - to our ISP, eth1 - to our network) machine does not have any IP there is a 802.1q vlan eth0.2 eth0.2 and eth1 are bridged in br0 i have one 4mbit link which i share with my friend, i have 3mbit and he has 1mbit all our IP addresses are public and we have the

HTB traffic shaping odd effects
Hi, I''m trying to perform some (what I consider) basic traffic shaping on our network utilising HTB. I have mostly reused the example on the lartc.org site: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 10 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 100mbit burst 24k tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 50mbit ceil 80mbit burst 19k tc class add dev eth0

__Very__ Low Bandwidth
I am using the script below to simulate a very low bandwidth connection. I found that I could turn the bandwidth knob down to about 4kbit, but below that I didn''t get any traffic through. I''ve had a look at this generally, but couldn''t find an answer. It doesn''t even seem like the first reply packet gets through. I have tried it with much bigger buffers,

tc strange behaviour
hi all, I''m trying to do the following: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 15 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:0 classid 1:1 htb rate 1mbit tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:15 htb rate 512kbit ceil 1mbit what I expect: limit outgoing traffic to 1mbit, start rate is 512kbit and let it grow up to 1mbit (correct me if i''m wrong here) so, here is the problem

HTB metro/international
Hi all! I have a problem setting up HTB on my home network. I have a network: 192.168.1.0/24 and I want to limit the download to 200 KB to every IP from my city ( I have the IP''s of most ISPs). The thing is that I I want to limit the international traffic too (I do not use BGP) and set it to 15 KB. Can someone help with this setup? Thanks! Best regards, -- George -- This message

Why does this script noet work (bandwidth, tc en u32)
Hi, Can anyone point me out where the script below is wrong? All I want is that host 172.31.1.1 can only use 10 megabit. If I run this script on the in-between router nothing happens (the host uses still the full 100 mbit, tested with iperf) , so i assume that something must be wrong.... #!/bin/sh # LAN1 NIC tc qdisc del dev eth0 root tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb tc class add dev

Htb, imq and sfq traffic shaping
Hello, I wrote a simple traffic shaping script (below) that should have allowed me to shape my internet traffic a bit (ppp0 - adsl 128kbit/64kbit; local interface eth0). The script works only partially - the speed is being limited but too much. Without running this script my download rate is about 10kBytes (with second computer also downloading at about 6kBytes). After running it my download speed

HTB + BRIDGE QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everybody! I am very glad to get htb test information from www.docum.org for the htb performance. Today, I setup a bridge using brctl. my setup as following: 192.168.2.26 | | | |------------- | HTB+BR box |-------- 192.168.2.18 | eth0 | | eth1 192.168.2.29 | | | I want to limit

htb2 -> htb3 problems
Hello! I need to switch from htb2 to htb3, because of speed issues (for me, htb2 is unable to handle more then 100mbit duplex with ~550 classes), kernel profiling shows htb_dequeue_prio at 1st place with 3x isolation. So, I''ve moved from 2.4.19 to 2.4.25 kernel (hi-pac for classification/marking and htb3 for queueing), and traffic rate drop from 100 to 20mbit. What can be wrong? The

Hello I am using htb (krenel 2.6.14.3 + esfq patch from fatooh.org) to limit the bandwidth. But I want the absolute maximum rate to be for example 5Mbit and not to exceed it. here is the script: $tc qdisc add dev ${NETIF} root handle 1 htb r2q 4 $tc class add dev ${NETIF} parent 1: classid 1:21 htb rate 5Mbit ceil 5Mbit $tc class add dev ${NETIF} parent 1:21 classid 1:101 htb rate 2Mbit ceil

htb child classes don''t borrow form "parent''s parent class" :(

Why does scp stall on low bandwidth connections?
Hi, I am new to tc and have been reading quite a bit on how to set it up etc. Everything seems to be working fine, until I started scp-ing a large file over a low bandwidth connection as part of my testing process. Here is the setup: my pc --- bridge running tc/htb --- rest of network TC is filtering traffic from "my pc" and classifies it as 120kbit (see my script below). I then scp a
