Coexistence of Dynamic and Static routing
List members;
I have been reading the digest for some time now and I would like to ask some conceptual questions. I am a telecommunications systems designer and not a software guy, but I have tried and used a number of the tools availabel in the LARTC and Iptables, and many of the other great things included in Linux. We are designing commercial products and I don''t want to ask my

Feature Request - Director Balance
Hi,
often I run into the situation where a dovecot server goes down for
maintenance, and all users get concentrated in the remaining dovecot server
(considering I have 2 dovecot servers only).
When that dovecot server comes back online, director server will send new
users to it, but the dovecot server that was up all the time will still
have tons of clients mapped to it.
I suggest the director

Load Balance between 2 NIC
Hi,
I have a server with 2 NIC and 2 different ISP.
The idea is configure a Load Balance with these 2 providers.
I reviewed: http://lartc.org/lartc.html#LARTC.RPDB.MULTIPLE-LINKS but I
would like to know if this is a good method to use with CentOS 6.
Thanks in advance!

What do you mean with "implement in C/C++"?
If you mean adding libraries to C/C++ that correctly deal with Unicode:
that's nothing you do with a compiler infrastructure. And probably
duplicate work, since Unicode libraries already exist.

[LLVMdev] LLVM supports Unicode?
Hi, Jo!
I'm trying create a new programming language, and I want that it have
Unicode support (support for read and manipulate rightly the source-code and
string literals).
But, in addition, my programming language supports "string interpolation"
string, and in these interpolations, tiny snippets of code, like
expressions, or variable names.
So, I need read each char, separating

Newbie question - RPDB, policy routing etc...
Hello all,
I am going through the LARTC howto to understand how the iproute2 works.
But some concepts like Policy Routing, RPDB etc are not clear to me. I
am pretty new to iproute, beeing using route command for long...
From what I understand
1. rules (ip rule) tell how to select packets for routing and route (ip
route) tell where to route the selected packets.
2. A collection of rules is

source routing does not work with extra ip addresses
I set up this config:
+------+
-+ ISP1 +--+
+------+ | +-------+
+--+ linux |
+------+ | +-------+
-+ ISP2 +--+
+------+
No problem. Standard setup with two ISP''s. Both routed subnets. Default
gateway is ISP1. No magic here.
Now I put a server behind the Linux box. I want the server to be
reachable on an /extra/ IP in the routed subnet of ISP2.

First of all i wanna thanks Christoph Simon for the support.
Only after his reply to my email i could see the real solution to
the problem (Valeu mesmo cara... me ajudou pra caramba!

Here is what i learned in a month of research:
I tried A LOT of things to do load balance, including the one at
LARTC homepage. The only tutorial that REALLY works in my

Samba AD member lost domain join after reboot
I conducted many tests and I noticed that I lose the domain-join on SMB1
soon as I joined SMB2 in the domain.
Step 1: SMB1 "net ads join -Uadministrator" -> OK
Step 2: SMB1 "net ads testjoin" -> OK
Step 3: SMB2 "net ads join -Uadministrator" -> OK
Step 4: SMB2 "net ads testjoin" -> OK
Step 5: SMB1 "net ads testjoin" ->

the routing cache and route selection; is this correct?
Hello all,
I do not read C very well (especially kernel C). Though I have tried to
muddle my way through an understanding of what''s going on in fib_hash.c,
fib_rules.c, and route.c, I have not succeeded to my satisfaction, hence
my post.
I''m trying to document the general process of route selection, and have
come up with the following overview. Could somebody point out any

Samba AD member lost domain join after reboot
I think I found my problem, when configuring my second domain
controller, I have created by mistake a round robin DNS entry on
"Forward Lookup Zones -> ad.samdom.local".
I speak of round-robin because I have two fields A pointing to the same
domain
Now I'm lost, you have a second domain controller in failover?
If so, could you give me your DNS configuration? I need information

traffic queueing and ipsec vpn
Hi all, ive been reading lartc howto, im new about traffic shaping/police.
As far as red (chapter 9 complete) i saw that first the packet passes at the
ingress qdisc, then it passes to the ip stack if the packet is directed to
the box or its forwarded (is my case), then it falls to the egress
classifier/s.
Now, i understand if i have an ipsec vpn at the outside interface, the

AMP - recording call
Hi,
I'm using the new AMP which provides a call recording. The options of
recording call Always and Never are well working.
But how to use the On-Demand option ? Should I press a pad ? Is this
configured in the featuremap of features.conf ? Why my modifications in
that features.conf have no effects ?
Please advice me.
Alexis.
