Installing ROR/Webrick app on Windows 2000/2003 Server
Hi all, I am currently not able to use search since it is disabled, so I will ask my question and hope I am not repeating a past question. I am looking into developing an app to run in Windows 2000/2003 Server environment. To install ROR on a server to run an app on Webrick do I need any extra steps beyond those needed to install on my development laptop (XP prof) ? The idea is to run the

Hello, I''ve been working away to setup mongrel as my production server, however I am running into an odd problem and am not sure where to investigate for the answer. When I run using mongrel_rails start most things work fine, but a I get a few inexplicable undefined method errors, for example: undefined method `send_qbxml'' for #<Sync:0x2aaaafa7aa78> The method is

WEBrick development environment not reloading views in Windows
I recently RoR on a machine running Windows 2003 server. When I fire WEBrick using the development environment, it does not reload the app with changed views. I have to shut down WEBrick and restart it to see the changes. Fresh install on Debian Etch - Mongrel immediately hangs
Hi, I just did a clean install of Ruby 1.8.5 Rubygems 0.9.0 and the Mongrel and Mongrel_Cluster gems. I used only the Debian Etch package manager, nothing compiled myself. Now, on a testapp when I do a script/server, I get the: ** Ruby version is not up-to-date; loading cgi_multipart_eof_fix warning. But it''s not serving my app. Ruby is immediately on 100% CPU load (and 0.7%

IE vs Firefox -- http:// matters?
I just noticed something interesting (or not) about getting to my RoR app on the 2 browsers. I''ve tested it running Webrick or Mongrel_rails and get the same behavior. The app is at http://www.mydomain.com:myport#/app/list Specifying that complete URL works fine in both browsers. However in IE if you just specify www.mydomain.com:myport#/app/list I get page not found. In FF the URL

Mongrel says it works, but it doesn''t
Hello, I came to know of mongrel by pure chance, it interrested me cause webrick never worked and instantrails for rails was very slow. the problem with webrick is/was is that it says just this: >ruby script/server c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rexml/entity.rb:21: warning: character class has `-'' without escape c:/ruby/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rexml/entity.rb:21: warning: character

starting Mongrel via script/server
The 2nd edition of "Agile Web Development with Rails" claims that script/server would start Mongrel or lighttpd instead of WEBrick if one of these servers is installed. It does not seem to do that for Mongrel on my Windows XP that has Mongrel installed by installing Instant Rails 1.4. Should I assume that the book has an error? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Mongrel 0.3.1 -- New Site/Runs Right
Hello All, Yet another release of Mongrel proudly pushed out for everyone to review and comment on. This time though, I''ve done up a little website that''s *way* better than the plan Rdoc that used to stand in for the site like a one-legged leper. * http://mongrel.rubyforge.net/ As you should already know, Mongrel is a fast HTTP server and library for Ruby partially written in

Threading & database connections.
Hello all. Bear with me, there is a Mongrel question in here ;) I have been having some fun with database connections and ruby. Long story ( Found here: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/56047 ) short: I was making far too many in my application. I eventually fixed this (I thought) and when running webrick there were only ever two connections (One to each database) no matter how many users, this

script/server lighttpd on Windows
Has anyone been able to get script/server to successfully use lighttpd on a Windows box? When I try to start the server I get: PROBLEM: Lighttpd is not available on your system (or not in your path) So then I add "C:\lighttpd\sbin" to the path for the console session, and it still fails with the same error. If anyone has some success with this I sure would like to know. Webrick

Auto-installing Gems via boot.rb causes errors under Mongrel
Hi, I''m trying to make my Rails app auto-install my required gems, by invoking the gem installation in boot.rb. I''ll use the ActionMailer gem as an example: ... system "sudo gem install actionmailer --version=1.2.5 -y" ... Problem is that this fails on the first invocation of Mongrel - it can''t find the gem. However, if I kill and restart mongrel (with the

It starts up webrick! I want mongrel, since it''s better for debug. How can I substitute it? Below is a sudo gem list: actionmailer (2.0.2) actionpack (2.0.2) actionwebservice
