observe_field, does this generate HTML?
I don''t have Rails installed at the moment, I''d like to check myself, but it''s just a simple curiosity. observe_field fits into replacement tags <%= %>, which caught my attention because as far as I know it''s just javascript observing a field and should not stick anything into HTML. Is <%= merely used as an enabling method, or will there actually be

newbie question regarding basic AJAX form verification
Hi, I''m confused about how form verification with AJAX works. Let''s say I have a ''new.rhtml'' view that contains a form with two fields, and the form action is ''create''. Let''s assume that I also want to do some type of data validation on one of the two fields via AJAX before I submit the form. But since I''ve already

beginners question
hi group, I am making a little rails app to experiment with rails. It consists of one model, item, that represents an item on a todo list. A todo item has a description, a state (finished or not) and a due date. After changing the scaffold screens a bit, I wanted to be able to have no due date. I tried to do this by making a radio button; if ''no date'' is selected, the date

bad move? - complex form with *many* observe_field's
I have a pretty complex form with many text fields and a number of selects. We let the user add multiple types of associated objects to the parent object and to edit the values for those associated objs, so the form can have something like the following number of fields on the page: 9 text fields + 3 selects + a*(1 text + 1 select) + b*(1 text + 1 select) + c*(1 text + 1 select) + d*(1 text +

Using RJS templates with observe_form
Hi there, I''ve been checking out RJS templates, and have been trying to use them with the observe_form helper. However, the form values are no longer being passed in the params (as soon as I point the action to the non-rjs and add the ''update'' clause everything is working again). Is this expected? Can you use observe_field to watch a select list and then update the contents of a text field?
Before I waste more time trying to figure that out, I was wondering if it''s even possible? The Rails Way says that observe_field by default will trigger changes in text fields and text areas, and on clicks for radio buttons and check boxes. So perhaps I''m using the wrong tool here? Thanks. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you

multiple observe_field''s and IE 6
Has anybody ran into any problems using mulitple observe_field or multiply remote_function calls when the browser is IE? I have a search and retrieve app that works very well in Firefox or Safari, but in IE, the app sometimes just sits there for minutes and then catches up all at once, or never at all. I just want to know where to start looking to solve this one, as most of our customers will be
